The Dark Side of Virality — A Breakdown Worth Your Time
Hey friends — as many of you know I used to create articles like this to share research and video breakdowns. It's been a while, and I want to acknowledge that I've missed doing so. Life has a way of pulling us in different directions — and in the winter with snow and taxes, it's harder to keep up. When I watched this video though, I felt I had to share it. The video is by Chris Do of The Futur, released March 24, 2026. It's called **"The Content Strategy Nobody Is Talking About (But Should Be)"** šŸ‘‰ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaDK_zVy1Cc --- **šŸ¤” The Central Question** Chris starts with a central question: *"If anyone can go viral... should you?"* He then makes a compelling case that virality is actually a trap. **If you DO go viral:** You enter the **Validation Loop** — looking outside yourself for proof you're doing something worthwhile, constantly needing to repeat it. **If you DON'T go viral again:** Motivation tanks, self-worth takes a hit, burnout follows, and eventually you quit. --- **🚨 The Four Problems With Chasing Virality** **1ļøāƒ£ The Seduction** — Platforms never tell you how to go viral. It's intentionally opaque. So we hand our emotional well-being over to algorithms and gurus who are also just guessing. **2ļøāƒ£ The Addiction** — The platform hooks you like a dealer with a sample. The cruel twist: *the day before your post went viral, you were happy making progress.* After going viral, normal progress never feels good enough again. **3ļøāƒ£ The Prison** — Go viral doing something specific and that thing becomes your cage. People expect it every time. When you try to return to something more authentic, the audience punishes you: *"This isn't what we followed you for."* **4ļøāƒ£ The Awakening** — Followers don't equal community. VidCon invited major TikTokers with millions of followers to speak. Rooms built for 500–800 people had 20–30 seats filled. One creator with 1.3 million followers held a meet-and-greet. Nobody came.

I’m glad you liked it @George Benson. It’s easy to follow our well established patterns, but worthwhile to put effort into being more intentional.

@George Benson being intentional is an ongoing process and doesn’t work without self-awareness which is also something I believe we have to work on every day. The right path is not always the easy one, but I choose it every day and do my best to stay on it.
Days 3,4,5,6.
Days 3–5 were pretty simple on my end. I moved through the lessons, read everything carefully, and double checked that what I had already put together still felt aligned. Day 6 was a different experience. It asked for a level of clarity that you don’t always realize you’re missing until you’re actually asked to articulate it. What felt clear in my head needed more refinement when I put it into words. I’m really grateful for that part of the process, because now everything feels much more solid. I can see how it all fits together in a way that feels clear and steady. @Eddi Pinegar @Dr. Saundra Stancil @Jenny Sharratt @Dajana K. @Jaye Brunner

Nice work @Cat PInegar. I’ve nothing really to add - @Jaye Brunner and @Dr. Saundra Stancil said it all. Good luck with the next tasks😊
Day 17 - Shorts Strategy: Fastest Path to Exposure
What a journey this is! My first two years, no shorts. Trying to get back in the game in September of 2025 I started doing "Walk and Talk" Shorts. I did 14 Sept - Nov. I did this challenge in December of 2025, since then I have posted 53. In late February, I felt the shorts were screwing up my analytics, so I unlisted 19 scheduled for March šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£. So here I am in March with Alexa's voice in my head saying, "Even a few views on shorts is EXPOSURE!" My biggest takeaway today, I need to SLOW down and take serious developing my skills in word smithing good scripts. Shorts are the perfect place to start, a lesson from @Adam Tinkoff, who does fabulous shorts on his channel! Questions I have still lingering in my head, 1. What is a good description to write with shorts and 2. When is the best time to post them? I think Alexa said mornings and early evenings. I did write, film, and edit a short today, it's attached. Let me know what you think. I will be posting my shorts on Sunday Evenings and Tuesday Mornings. My long videos go out on Thursday evenings. I did film to other videos to batch today, I didn't write the script, I had help from AI. With all that, I am back in the short business on my channel! Exposure is key if you want to grow. Thanks for your support @Jenny Sharratt @Dr. Saundra Stancil @Eddi Pinegar @Cat PInegar @Ricardo Solomons @Casey Hamlin @Adam Tinkoff @Dajana K.

This is so good @Jaye Brunner. If I wasn’t already subscribed, I would be racing to your channel now. This is the path I’m on now. Stop running from fear and lean into it with faith on my sidešŸ’•

@Adam Tinkoff I admire you following your own path on YouTube. That confidence gives you authority.
Day 30 Done. Thank You.
Today, I successfully completed this challenge. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me throughout the journey, particularly @Alexa Saarenoja for her generosity and brilliance in organizing and making this program freely available. I encourage everyone who is still on the path to persevere and complete the exercises. Additionally, don’t wait for someone to tell you to create your videos. Take the initiative and do it for yourself! You deserve the success that awaits you. It’s time to make your mark.

First Video Update: Creator Breakthrough Series Challenge
About the First Gift Basket Video: I had to make this a whole environmental experience. It is a new birth for me, liberation even. I started by setting up my space, taking some setup photos, having a devotional time which included journaling about this experience and the support I have received from each of you, taking a soothing spa bath, pre-conditioning my hair (okay, TMI, but this is a new birth experience), getting dressed for my design, having a nurturing breakfast (lemon drink, blueberries, grapes, apple, banana--in that order), and returning to my "design center," which is my desk for this moment, to make this gift basket. I am excited!!! It feels so good to be doing anything related to my passion. This is fitting because it is Palm Sunday (to those who acknowledge it). How appropriate is that! I know you may be tired of hearing/reading this, but this is the breakthrough in progress. So with all of that TMI said, I designed the gift basket and recorded it. Next I am editing the video and will let it marinate in the YouTube Studio before I release it to the world. Here's a before picture of my work area with the gift items, and of the me with the finished Christian-Based Easter Gift Basket. (No bunnies, eggs, or candy found in this creation.) It can be used as a gift, get well, birthday, just because gift. I will let you know once the video is published. It will be published by tomorrow if not earlier. Now onward to the editing, finishing my hair, then to Day 12... What a beautiful post @Dr. Saundra Stancil and another thoughtful response from the lovely @Jaye Brunner. Who would have thought that a YouTube video instruction series would create such transformation and a wonderful community of supporters. While I struggle to find the cause of my procrastination on day 8, I still get such joy and encouragement from your progress. You have so much knowledge of the process now and I know it will show in your first video. Can’t wait to see it. The gift basket recipient is a very lucky man!

Thank you @Dr. Saundra Stancil. I agree that the process can’t be rushed. I will move past this block. Good luck with the editing😊
