Naming Conflict?

I came up with a channel name that works exactly for my content plans. Unfortunately there is a channel by that name. However, it has 7 subscribers and had nothing posted in the last 4 years. I know duplicate names are allowed, but I am hesitant to use this name.

I see a few choices:

1) Duplicate the name of the channel and "bury" it when I publish new content in decent numbers. There is also a .com blog using this same

2) The existing channel has a short number in it. I could conceivably replace that with the spelled-out numbers and secure the corresponding domain name.

3) I have an alternative name that works but is slightly longer and not quite as "snappy".

I would be very grateful for some good advice with this dilemma.
