I need to pivot.
Friends, when I first joined this class, I thought of creating a channel for single parents with special needs children but the more I think about it the more I believe it will put me into a box so I am going to pivot and not make disability center stage but part of the content, of course. This is my new profile text: I help women navigate single parenting, adulthood, finance, faith, work, and a life path that doesn’t fit the norm or the dreams we had. Thoughts?

I'm no expert, but it seems that, instead of focusing on a particular topic, you could focus on the audience you wish to speak to and how you can relate to them when presenting your various topics. So instead of the topic being the "glue" that holds your audience, it is instead the shared attributes and values of the audience. This isn't uncommon and seems to have the potential for success.
Naming Conflict?
I came up with a channel name that works exactly for my content plans. Unfortunately there is a channel by that name. However, it has 7 subscribers and had nothing posted in the last 4 years. I know duplicate names are allowed, but I am hesitant to use this name. I see a few choices: 1) Duplicate the name of the channel and "bury" it when I publish new content in decent numbers. There is also a .com blog using this same 2) The existing channel has a short number in it. I could conceivably replace that with the spelled-out numbers and secure the corresponding domain name. 3) I have an alternative name that works but is slightly longer and not quite as "snappy". I would be very grateful for some good advice with this dilemma. Thank you!

@Rudi Strahl Thank you. Great feedback.
So it begins
Created a Youtube channel but never posted on my channel! I keep second guessing myself and looking to grow and make connections here.

A couple of years ago I was pondering starting a newsletter. I hemmed and hawed for months. Then I saw a 30 day challenge, which I jumped on. Having the concrete goals and deadlines drove me to create my newsletter. Without the challenge, I might never have created the newsletter. If you really want to jumpstart the channel, maybe try the same sort of thing with your channel - if you can't find a challenge, create one yourself. Give yourself a set of goals, broken down by day. Give yourself a firm start date, milestones, and deadlines, and stick to the plan. But as a lifelong procrastinator, I would say a public challenge with accountability is the way to go. I truly hope that this helps.
Thanks to Old Mike, it's his fault we are bothering you!
Hello from up north in the U.K. We are Alan and Marion who are happily playing 'pin the tail on the donkey' with our You Tube journey. We struggle to get people to watch let alone subscribe! (I don't think they like Marion!). We are not sure what to do or expect so might just stalk you guys for a while, thanks for having us .https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjnzVGLjvjrj355JLNXBBuw

That's how I got here, too. I was already subscribed to Alexa's YouTube channel, but Old Mike promptrd me to take this step.
Introduction!
Hi everyone. I'm so glad to be here! My name is Kevin and I am very pleased to find such a community. I am less than a year from what feels like an overdue retirement. And not wanting to turn into a moss-like entity on the living room chair, I am starting what I hope will be a helpful, successful business in the Senior/Retirement area, with YouTube being the primary driver. In many ways the structure will be similar to how Alexa has created her channel and this community. I have not created my channel quite yet - I just settled on a YouTube name and am checking website, newsletter, and social site names to get a consistent identity across all channels. I hope to learn from this community and eventually give back once I have accumulated enough useful knowledge.
