Migrating from Facebook
I actually commented on someone else's post about this but I think it might more efficient to make an own post bout the subject.
I have a large 33 K FB community. I want to do some kind of exit. Facebook is getting to difficult and I'm even worried about their AI removing my posts (as admin) for cyber security reasons ?!?! (Google Forms links) which might have consequences for my or the group's visibility.
I'm dreaming of a smaller group or even groups (probably language variations or themes). I can't even talk about "migrating" the group. It's impossible. But to take the most committed ones to a subscription group would be the idea.
I already got some ideas from here about how to structure and start the new group. I'm also learning about Skool and if it would be the right platform for me. Currently my digital products are on Podia.
There are a few technical issues that might prohibit some loyal community members to migrate with me. The demographics is really wide, mostly women but all ages. Many of the not so young women are really sceptical about payment providers and not good with technology. Facebook is so familiar although also confusing. They don't want to give their credit card number to Stripe or use PayPal or something. Only our national banks' softwares are considered reliable.
I'm still pretty active in the group trying not to use too much energy on it. But it's also my main marketing channel so I need to give some value. I'm an interactive doer and writing in the group works fine for me. My community members are incredibly loyal, but I'm not sure how they'd feel about a new platform. I guess I'll have to try and see.
I have no idea how it will take to start the new one. Should I start building it with some early adaptors? It might be easier for me to build it while getting comments and reflections.
Any reflections and ideas are welcome! Have a great eve!
