Proper Sleep
Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anybody else has any good methods of getting proper sleep with high volume training. I’ve always struggled with getting enough sleep and have had more difficulty with this lately from my work schedule. Ideally, I’d like to get to sleep by 9:00 p.m after getting home from training around 8:30 ish to be up and ready for my work shift by 3:45 a.m. I find it hard to go from a high adrenaline rush from training right into sleep without a good few hours of hanging around and doing stuff around the house first. Anybody have any good cooldown techniques or pre-sleep routines that help get your body and mind ready to fall asleep?
how to work on defense
might b a stupid question but people tell me all the time to work on defense but how? i know i can spar n work on my defense but is rhat it? w offense i can spar, hit pads, shadowbox, hit the bag, what all can i do to work on defense
Hitting the bag
I was sore so yesterday I hit the bag and ran half a mile instead of class. What drills do you do when you hit the bag I was doing a simple one-two liver shot and adding a new move every other combo (ex.1-2-liver shot, 1-2-liver shot-elbow, 1-2-liver shot, 1-2-liver shot-knee) I just wanna know how I can diversify my bag work im having a little trouble adding kicks in to the mix if you guys can give me some advice I’d appreciate it Thank You !
Instinctual fear negatively impacting my sparring
Idk how to accurately describe what I mean. And it’s not just sparring but technically rolls warmups and exercises too I guess. Basically, my body straight up rejects certain “dangerous” stuff. Like for example, fall exercises and stuff, instead of just falling my body instinctively tries to throw out a leg or a knee to save myself from the fall. Or I’m falling for body feints. I’m having a bitch of a time breaking the habit. I know it’s normal to an extent, but I feel like I can’t master my own mind. This translates into some bullshit with sparring and rolling where I’m wincing or lowering my guard to dodge something. I know this will get me hurt in comp where the skill level is higher and girls are capable of catching me in that or identifying it and using it to their advantage. I guess awareness is the first step to getting past this. Hopefully this reflection will help me work harder and do better in class tonight. Still a noob so trying not to be hard on myself. As a perfectionist, though it’s keeping me up at night.
