What's In a Number?

This year I’d really like to celebrate the beginnings, and how everyone who joins your community or subscribes to your publication is honored as a person not a number.

Yes, we love to see those beings as subscribers grow, and we equate it to a number - but really that isn’t a number it’s a group of humans who said heck yeah to your invitation to more.

It’s easy to see and at some level become envious of those numbers - but the numbers itself really don’t mean anything. And you can’t extrapolate anything from those numbers either.

Someone with 100K subscribers who never open their emails, comment, or purchase is way less effective than someone with 20 subscribers who paid them for empowering them to overcome a problem that they were struggling with.

Numbers only mean something in context.
