Question on workout volume: 3 hard sets vs. 4-6 sets?
I wanted to get some opinions on the number of sets we're all doing.
Because I work out during my lunch breaks, my time is limited to about 20-35 minutes. I focus on doing just 3 exercises per workout, 3 sets each, but I make sure to take every set to true failure. For me, this is highly effective.
I notice a lot of guys here are doing 4 to 6 sets per exercise. Honestly, I'm trying to understand the benefit. Is 4-6 sets too many? If I tried to do 6 sets, I feel like I'd just be wasting time or holding back on my first few sets just so I could survive to the end. Are those extra sets actually building muscle, or is it just pumping too much blood without adding much value? Would love to know the reasoning behind the higher set counts!
