Revisiting lots of clones I own, and followig up wearing the Original for comparison.
After revisiting a lot of my clones lately, I have to be honest — many of them have let me down when it comes to real performance, longevity, and sillage. And this is not just a Middle Eastern clone issue. It can happen with American and European clone houses, too. Original fragrances are usually designed to do specific things. They go through testing, adjusting, reformulating, and balancing of materials before the final product is released. Not all aroma chemicals are equal either. Two materials may be trying to create a similar effect, but that does not mean they will smell, project, blend, or last the same way. That is why getting the exact formulation and performance of an original can be tedious. A clone may capture the scent profile, but performance and quality can be all over the place. Some open loud, some fade fast, some become sharp, some get flat, and some only leave behind musk, ambroxan, woods, or sweetness. The mind is powerful, too. Let’s face it — when we buy clones, most of us are trying to capture the essence of the original at a bargain. So sometimes we want it to be closer, better, and longer lasting than it really is. A loud opening can make your brain think, “This is a beast.” But after that first blast settles, is the full fragrance still there, or is it just a thin drydown hanging on? To me, a lot of clones do not truly perform better. They just start louder. Loudness is not the same as quality, real longevity, or good sillage. The problem is not always the country it comes from. It is the clone style itself — copying the smell, pushing power, and sometimes losing the balance, smoothness, depth, and natural transition of the original. At the end of the day, I am not saying all clones are bad. I still respect a good clone when it is done right. But I think we have to be honest with ourselves. Sometimes we are not getting the full original experience — we are getting a shortcut to the scent profile. And there is nothing wrong with that, as long as we understand what it is. A clone can smell good, be enjoyable, and save money, but that does not always mean it has the same quality, structure, performance, or artistry as the original.
Fragrance House Reviews. My Honest Take First Up Dua!!!
I own over 50 DUAs. Lots of them I really enjoy, so this is not me bashing the brand. Is DUA good? Yes and no. DUA is a clone house / inspired house. That is what it really is. They make inspired versions, hybrids, designer copies, niche copies, discontinued copies, and stronger extrait-style takes on popular scents. Some of them are good. Some perform very well. Some smell great in the air. And to be fair, I think a lot of their hybrids and originals are excellent. That is one area where DUA can actually be fun, because they mix ideas and create scents you may not find anywhere else. But let’s also be honest: DUA is still hit or miss. Some can smell sharp, oily, heavy, synthetic, or just too dense compared to the original. Another thing with DUA is the price per ounce. You have to be careful. A lot of times, once you break down the bottle size and price per ounce, DUA can actually be more expensive than the designer fragrance it is cloning. So, just because it is a clone does not automatically mean it is the better value. I don’t have a problem with clones, but I do have a problem with people acting like every strong clone “replaces” the original. Most clones may capture the scent profile, but they usually do not capture the same quality, smoothness, development, transitions, or expensive finish of the real fragrance. That is why I think DUA should be judged against other clones first. Is it better than Alexandria, Montagne, Genre, or another clone of the same fragrance? Is it smoother? Does it smell better in the air? Does it actually hold up after the opening? That is a fair conversation. But when people say, “This replaces the original,” I think that is where the hype starts. If you have never smelled the original or you have not compared it to other clones, then how can you really say that? To me, DUA is a fun clone house with some strong performers, some good hits, and some excellent hybrids and originals. But it is not the same thing as owning the original fragrance. I would judge it for what it is: a clone/inspired brand, not a niche house.
Club De Nuit Intense Man EDT vs EDP
I have to say that Club De Nuit Intense Man EDT has a legendary clone of Creed Aventus and it last way longer than the original. I haven't tried the EDP yet and they both have 10 plus hours of longevity. Did anyone have the EDP and how was was the difference compared to the EDT?
