SOTD: Mirto di Panarea by Acqua di Parma 27/04/2026
This is one that I've been sitting on since late last year. I picked up a bargin travel size, and with the current heatwave, it's a perfect opportunity. Initial thoughts gave me CK One vibes, but it's deeper that that. Released in 2008 from the nose of Doors legendary François Demachy. It's one of their Blu Mediterraneo line said to capture the essence of the island of Panarea, a small, volcanic island in the Aeolian archipelago where the air is thick with the scent of wild shrubs and salty sea spray. It's a Citrus Aromatic, with a fresh/botanical vibe. Top notes of Myrtle, Italian Lemon, Italian Bergamot, & Basil, give a sharp, herbal, zesty opening, yet it is instantly cooling. At its heart, Marine Breeze, Jasmine Absolute & Damask Rose. As the initial citrus settles, a soapy/clean floral heart emerges, backed up with a distinct salty, aquatic note to mimic that Mediterranean coast. At its base, Lentisk (Mastic), Juniper, Virginian Cedarwood, and Amber. The dry down is grounding, slightly resinous, which adds a subtle woody warmth that keeps the fragrance from being too airy. This is a summer in a bottle kinda fragrance, it's real easy to wear & very enjoyable. However, there are some problems. As an edt, performance sucks, your looking at 3hrs at best on skin. Now that's ok, for what it is, you can always top up, which leads to the second issue. This commands a premium price. A full bottle will set you back €200 in these parts, for that money I'd like something that wears better. Projection is rather intimate, It stays close to the skin after the first hour, creating a personal scent bubble rather than filling a room. It's definitely a daytime wear, can see it rocking in high heat. That said it is a really good fragrance. My Rating 6.5/10 Scent 3 Longevity 1.5 Sillage 1 Y/N 1
