Vivamor’s Forbidden Temptation: A blind buy fail?
I grabbed this at launch hoping it would rival Scents of Wood’s Plum in Cognac, since they share nearly the same notes (plum, cinnamon, booze, vetiver). But they are totally different beasts.
Forbidden Temptation is a sexy, spicy gourmand. The plum here is much sweeter—almost candy-like—likely due to the heavy vanilla and tonka. It "shouts" for attention for the first couple of hours before settling down.
Plum in Cognac, on the other hand, is a sophisticated, woody/resinous masterpiece. Its plum is realistic and juicy, balanced by alcohol aged in vintage cognac barrels. It’s less "loud" but has that "ghostly" sillage where it disappears and then hits you with a random, amazing whiff throughout the day.
Both last about 8 hours. Am I in love with the Vivamor? Not yet. It’s a total people-pleaser for gourmand lovers, but PiC is more my style. I’ll finish my decant of PiC and eventually grab a full bottle of that instead.
