Good day brothers!
New decant gone, M. Micallef RedColorado. I had no idea what to expect here, as the name is mischievously misleading compared to the note breakdown as declared.
This is a cold weather forest in a bottle. Kidna Christmass-y, come to think about it. Colorado Forest? Huh. All the woods and all the forest green leaves there.
Opening notes as declared, we have pine, cypress and Fir, in the middle pine again, guaiac, sandalwood cedar and even more "woodsy notes", and on the drydown vanilla and leather.
This will be very straight forward for me to go over. A cold, pine forest with sunlight shining through all the trees. The combination of all of the green leaves is nice, and brings great memories of my hiking era to mind. From the first moment, it's tons of leaves and woods, and is dries down and transitioning into the mid, the greennes starts to fade, but I understand why the pine feeling doesn't... having it also declared on the mid. Woods and pine. As Christmas as it can be for me.
The drydown is what I liked the most, which is not saying much. The leather and vanilla is actually somewhat refreshing, moving all the woods and needles out of the way.
I'm really not much for green fragrances, and this one is as green as it can be. I really liked the memories and feel of it, I can imagine and remember those hikes through a cold-climate forest in winter, and it smells jus tlike it. I really like the scent, but as an environmental, natural scent. I did not like it on me. It's just too green, and at the end, it's very easy for me to simplify the fragrance into " tons of leaves, tons of woods".
Performance is very good, projecting strong in the first hours, and then starting to get close to the skin, but never trully a skin scent on me. Could feel the scent almsot throughout the day. Of course, the fragrances I like the least, end up lasting so long on me...
Conclusion:
Do I like it? Not this one friends!
Did I enjoy the decant? Had to force myself to go through it. Actually ended up washing the last wear off...
Full bottle worthy, for me? Hard pass for me. The scent is very nice for me, from the memories-side of things. I still like the outdoors very much, and enjoy these kind of scents, but found out that wearing them on me is a no-go. Pine and woods is a very traditional scent on Christmas days aroudn here... and there and then, I do like it.
