We all know that Joop is a guilty pleasure of mine. You will either like or loath the original classic. But here it is with an actual twist that makes sense & works. Its been 37 years since Joop Homme hit our shelves and in that time, it has managed to grow up. Yes this is a deeper, refined & modern version of that iconic dna. Released back in 2021 the perfumer resonsable for this was Michel Almairac. The og was known for its loud sweetness. Whereas the edp elevates that with an added warmth & maturity.

Cardamom adds a spicy freshness in the opening, while the roasted hazelnut note is a key differentiator, providing a cozy, nutty warmth that wasn't as pronounced in the EDT.The hazelnut, vanilla, and tonka bean are very prominent in the EDP. This creates a rich, almost gourmand sweetness, but it's balanced by the spicy cardamom and woody elements. It's a very warm and inviting scent.The base notes of vanilla, tonka bean, and sandalwood contribute to a creamy, smooth, and highly sensual dry down. The iris/orris can add a subtle powdery or rooty nuance that gives it a touch more elegance.

While still sweet, many find the EDP less syrupy than the original EDT. It feels more rounded and less sharp. Performance is where the EDP truly shines. Your looking at a solid 8 hours, with a very strong projection for the first few hours, before settling into a noticeable sillage for the remainder of its wear. I picked up a 75ml of this for €27. It's a beast mode fragrance, so caution with sprays is advised.
