No prizes for guessing what this is heavily inspired by. They don't even try to hide it anymore, makes you wonder? So yeah, Hartnell is a clone/dupe/inspired by/ or complete rip off of Haltane. Which is one of the PFM fragrances that I reviewed a while back and actually enjoyed. Not forgetting Althair. But is Hartnell any use, can it do what Liquid Brun done? Hartnell is a Woody Aromatic/Gourmand fragrance, slightly masculine leading, but to be honest I don't see a lot of fragrances in a gender pigeon hole. It's a warm, and slightly sweet oud scent.
It starts with a fresh, bright, and herbaceous opening with notes of Bergamot, Lavender & Clary Sage that provides a clean, refined lift. The heart is warm, exotic, and slightly gourmand. The saffron provides a luxurious spiciness, while praline adds a delicious, nutty sweetness. With base notes of Agarwood (Oud), Cedar, Vetiver, Musk & Patchouli providing a deep resinous scent.
Performance here is a major factor, for the price it's packs a hefty punch, it might not be quite as refined as the OG, but it does come rather close. Lasts a solid 8 hrs with an initial projection that is strong and noticeable, settling into a sophisticated and long-lasting scent trail. Perfect for the colder climate and evening wear and a fraction of the price of a PDM.
