These are all blind buys with the exception of Althair which I was previously familiar with. I was pleasantly suprised with Haltane though. First impression was 'Wow'. I was not expecting it. A familiar scent, which is somewhat sililar to Out for Greatness by Intio. But this is more polished & refined. Alot less animalistic i think. But yes im loving this, its tight up my alley. If your new to oud or find it a bit overpowering, this is a great option. It manages to balance fresh/bright notes with a warm/luxurious base.
It opens with an invigorating & aromatic blend of bergamot, lavender & clary sage. providing that fresh, clean & herbal introduction. At its heart, you find a richness & complexity with saffron, cedarwood, praline of course oudwood. The saffron adds a subtle leathery & spicy nuance, while the praline gives that sweet gourmand touch that prevents the oud from being overly harsh. The cedarwood adds a crisp, dry woodiness. The dry down were the magic normaly occurrs, reveals a long-lasting foundation of patchouli, vetiver, musk, leather, and natural agarwood (so im asuming this is real oud & not the usual synthetic stuff that we normally get?). This creates a smooth, smoky, sensual finish.
In short we have a versatile fragrance, best suited for cold weather or evening attire, its sophisticated, balanced & wearable. But its also a Beast in every sense, performance is crazy only 3 sprays and im smelling this all day long, this is a true 12+ hrs scent. It has moderate to strong sillage, leaving a noticeable scent trail, and good projection, making its presence known without being overwhelming. I cant find fault here with this one.
Except for the price. How on gods earth can you justify €310 for a 125ml bottle? I know it's a niche/luxury house, but cmon seriously. Sorry I just can't justify that, even if I was filthy rich I dont think I could justify those prices. But unfortunitly I never factored price into my rating system hence the score.
