SOTD: Gold Incense by Mancera 19/02/2026
From Mancera's Gold Label collection, this one took me by surprise, I was expecting this too be a dark, smokey cathedral scent. But this has more of lush Amber/floral vibe. Another Pierre Montale release, this one was 2018. The fragrance is an intricate push and pull between bright citrus, dark resins, and creamy florals.
Up top there is Frankincense, giving a resinous, waxy opening rather than the usual smoke. The combo of Mandarin Orange & Pink Pepper, add a sharp, effervescent sparkle. And finally Coffee, A subtle, roasted undertone that adds weight without smelling like a latte. At its heart Violet & Jasmine combine to create an opulent, sun-drenched floral heart. Paired against another tag team of Rose & Patchouli Leaf for that classic oriental element with a slightly earthy backbone. Finally the base, Vanilla Pod & Sumatra Benzoin, creates a warm, balsamic sweetness that lingers for hours. Followed by a White Musk that smoothes out the edges for a clean, velvety finish.
Like most Mancera, you will be enjoying this for 8+ hrs with a strong projection that leaves a significant scent trail. It iaint no skin scent; it demands attention. It excels in colder weather. Because of its richness, it is a perfect evening or special occasion fragrance. A golden aura, not a smoke cloud. If you are looking for a dry, church-like incense, similar to Comme des Garçons Avignon, this is not it. It feels "thick" and expensive, blending the airiness of violet with the density of benzoin and vanilla.
