Argos Triumph of Bacchus is my scent of the day today. I decided to give this one some skin time and see how it actually behaves early on rather than jumping to conclusions from the name or note list.
About ten to twenty minutes in, what stands out most on my skin is saffron and tobacco. The saffron comes across dry and slightly leathery, setting a serious tone right away. The tobacco follows closely, not loud or sweet, but steady and grounded. I’m not really picking up distinct fruit notes on skin at this stage.
In the air, though, the scent feels different. There’s a soft sweetness floating around the scent bubble, almost caramel-like, likely coming from the rum and amber facets lifting off the skin. The booziness is present but very subdued. Nothing bold or syrupy like Angel’s Share. It feels more like warmth than an actual liquor note.
Overall, this is wearing much quieter than the name might suggest. It feels controlled and composed rather than indulgent or attention-grabbing. Rich in tone, but restrained in execution.
How do the other brothers that have this one experience it? Especially the boozy note and how quickly it shows up for you. Do you guys detect the fruit? Or is it a predominantly Tobacco fragrance for you as well?
