This was a blind buy from small indie house Anomalous Parfum out of Australia and only comes in 30ml. Recommended by , Blood Of River Nile masterfully channels the biblical tragedy of Pharaoh’s infanticide along the Nile into a haunting yet wearable rose oud. Crafted by self-taught perfumer Zackaria Ibn Hossain, it opens with a vivid burst of juicy, sun-ripened rose otto intertwined with Hindi oud, laced with Egyptian jasmine and mandarin for a bright, energizing lift that evokes the river’s life-giving warmth amid sorrow. A subtle civet musk adds a vintage, animalic edge, while the base of ambergris, oud, and musk delivers beast-mode longevity, easily over 12 hours on skin with a trail that’s intimate yet impossible to ignore. This isn’t your typical heavy oriental. It’s complex and approachable, blending floral-woody depth with effortless wearability for any occasion. Rose-oud purists will adore its nuance.
If rose oud isn’t your thing, do not buy this. If you’re not into a bit of animalics, do not buy this. If you do buy this, it’s relatively affordable, and you don’t like it, there are plenty of people that are waiting to buy it second hand.
