SOTD - Star Men Nebula by Fragrance World

This is meant to be a clone of Mugler A*Men Pure Malt. It is not listed on Fragrantica or Perfume, so I am posting the accords from Pure Malt below since they are similar.

I have never had the opportunity to smell Pure Malt, so I am not sure how close this gets. All the hype that convinced me to pick this up says it's like 90%, so I'll take them at their word for it. I got this as part of my big haul last week, and since it had been in transit in hot shipping containers, I decided to give it a few days to rest and let everything settle and aclimatize before trying it out.

When I first sprayed it on, I got nothing. It was like I didn't put anything on, and I actually ended up over spraying because of it. Now that it's drying down, it's heavy and loud. I don't know if that's because of the overspray, or if that's just how it is. Anyway, it hits hard with a whiskey, sweet, almost powdery aroma that is not overly sweet. If you've ever been inside of a brewery or distillery, it's that malty, hoppy aroma that accompanies the fermentation process. It's earthy, oaky, woody, sweet, and bitter all at the same time. If it's not something you are used to, it can be a bit overpowering, but it quickly calms down and becomes savory and delicious.

I think this is the smell of an older, successful gentleman. You know him - he has grey hair, wears a navy blazer with an Emmanuel Berg dress shirt, a pair of old blue jeans and a pair of Aldens or Bruno Maglis. He might be single, but the girl he brought to the corporate Christmas party just graduated from college three years ago and has a name like Krystal or Dani. Some day, I hope to be this guy, but not any day soon, LOL.

Anyway, longevity is great. Once my nose stopped being anosmic, I've been getting whiffs of it all day. I've had it on for about 8 hours now, and it's still hanging on. Projection is pretty high. I went to the grocery store after spraying it on, and got a few looks. I'm sure it was a bit heavy from the overspray. I don't think I'll wear this in the summer much since it is very heavy, but in the fall, this will be a definite go to. It reminds me a lot of some of my other favorites. It is good for daytime or evening wear in the cooler months. The packaging design is really nice. I like the shape and design of the bottle, and box it came in was nice, too. The cap is snug, and the overall presentation is much higher than the price point would suggest. It's excellent bang for your buck.
