Good morning, I hope you’re adjusting well to the time change. With the recent warm weather, it feels like spring has finally arrived in Denver, and I decided it was the perfect time to switch to my spring scents. I recently tried my travel-size Ocean Noir by Michael Malul, and here are my thoughts.

From the moment I sprayed it, the opening notes struck me as very safe and masculine. It reminded me of a classic shower gel with an ocean scent—fresh and clean. The initial blast is slightly oceanic, with a light, salty smell combined with a hint of citrus, making it an excellent choice for daily wear. This fresh opening is quite pleasing and lasts for about 5 minutes before the middle notes start to emerge.

As it transitions, a salty, seaweed-like note unfolds, adding a nice depth to the fragrance. Around the hour mark, the scent evolves into a darker, warmer essence, with tonka and amber coming into play, marking a shift from the fresh notes.

In terms of performance, Ocean Noir puts on a strong projection during the first hour, then settles into a moderate projection that lasts through about the fifth hour. By the seventh hour, the scent noticeably fades, but it still lingers in a subtle way.

Wearing this fragrance helped the name “Ocean Noir” resonate more. The way it opens fresh and then transitions into a warm, darker aroma truly encapsulates the essence of the name. This is a distinctly appealing blue scent that can be worn year-round. While it may not stand out drastically from other blue scents in your collection, it’s definitely a solid addition.
