decided to make use of my new samples from dior’s privee collection, and on a hot, sunny sunday ultimately went with Eden-Roc.
it was definitely careful thought and consideration that went into this. opening notes? i wasn’t sure.
and then… it started to grow on me. i just wasn’t sure. i wasn’t sure about it on the strip in the store, and now on my skin? completely different story
the opening is salty, fresh, citrusy and very mineral dominant with some fresh florals poking through from the base.
it’s a salty ocean breeze in a bottle, but the drydown phase is when it started to grow on me.
the heart notes are jasmine, coconut, and mastic resin. the coconut is more of a very slight accent, as it adds a sweetened, smooth bridge between the sharp bright florals and the earthiness of the mastic resin.
the base notes are pine and labdanum. very fleeting but noticeable. i’ve always been iffy about pine scents, mainly because i find them harsh and medicinal when done poorly, but kept as a fresher, green accent notes, it’s actually quite nice and adds to the visuals of this scent, like an ocean breeze whistling through pine trees on top of white sea cliffs on a bright sunny day.
performance is impossible to note. tiny sample sprayers are notoriously difficult to pinpoint performance because of how little they actually offer. projection was pretty solid on my skin for such a small amount. longevity around 5 hours. however i’d need to test a real bottle to fully grasp this.
so my honest thoughts? i really love this. i could see this to be a fantastic layer with my favorite summer scent, neroli portofino as to add a saltier, woodier base to the sharp florals and hopefully increase longevity.
had mixed feelings first, but i love salty, ocean floral scents like this one. definitely plan to get a larger decant now and see how it REALLY performs.
have a blessed day yall
