You Can’t Hate Yourself Happy
TAKING ACTION:
✅ After reading today’s post, have you noticed a change in how you perceive your body since beginning this journey?
“You can’t hate yourself happy. You can’t criticize yourself thin. You can’t shame yourself worthy. Real change begins with self-love and self-care. ~Jessica Ortner
I want you to re-read the quote above.
Now re-read the last sentence 👉 “Real change begins with self-love and self-care.”
When it comes to self-care, I don’t mean your monthly mani/pedi appointment or your favorite Starbucks run. Those things can be great, but real self-care is when you take action toward taking care of your body.
We’ve been talking about body image all week, and have covered a few tips for overcoming the negative perceptions or thoughts regarding our bodies. But did you know that real self-care—living a healthy lifestyle—also improves your relationship with your body? 💯
Research says that living a healthy lifestyle—particularly one that includes regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, adequate sleep, and other positive habits—can often help improve body image issues; the caveat here is that your WHY needs to be deeper than appearance alone. Your decision to eat healthy and exercise needs to be because you deeply care for your body—its overall health, function, and future.
The good news is that you’ve found the right lifestyle to support you. We focus on healthy, sustainable strategies that aren’t just about weight loss. We’re about comprehensive health, and I hope that if you’ve ever struggled with body image issues, those have improved along the way!
