School

Back when I was in school they didn’t use terms like spectrum, adhd, autism, etc. instead kids were slow or stupid or in the remedial class.

Now I am 58 and put my girls through school and unless you had a diagnosis and were able to get help, then they had to go through the system and learn like all the other kids.

We now know that girls don’t always get diagnosed early and go through the same issues again and again like we did in the 70’s and 80’s and before.

Isn’t it time that the school system changes as everyone is not “average” and cannot learn with the current system that hasn’t changed much since my grandparents were at school.

We are not idiots, slow or remedial but we are wired differently and the school system should reflect that.

Kids come out of school, college, universities and do not know how to manage a bank account, what APR is, how to get a mortgage or even simpler things like work a washing machine and cook. The world is failing our kids
