For a few minutes, I wasn't living my life.
I was living around my tinnitus.
Checking it.
Comparing it to yesterday.
Wondering if it was louder.
Trying to figure out why.
Then I stopped and asked myself:
"What was I about to do before I started checking?"
So I went back to it.
Not because the tinnitus disappeared.
But because my life deserved my attention more than the sound did.
Some days that's easy.
Some days it's really hard.
But every time we gently choose life over monitoring, we're teaching our brain something new.
