Virginia Contractor License
Does anyone have experience obtaining or hold a Virginia Landscaping Contractor License (Class C, B, or A)? In talking with the state they informed me forestry mulching and driveway repair falls under landscaping. I filed my LLC but ran into a snag with the Virginia DPOR as they will not accept my 5 years experience operating track loaders in the military or landscaping experience prior to service (My previous state did not require a license). In order for me to submit my application I have to have an experience form filled out and documented by a third party that holds a license either in Virginia or another state documenting 1-2 years of experience. If anyone has experience with this in Virginia how did you navigate it so you could operate without having to be unlicensed. I owe it to customers to remain within the legal constraints as Virginia can actually fine customers for hiring unlicensed contractors. This has been incredibly frustrating as I was about to sign documents yesterday for a 2024 Kubota SVL 97-2 with 150 hours for only 60k. Had it inspected by an outside mechanic with zero issues. However I had to put it on pause so as not to put the cart before the horse.

take notes...
if you haven't checked out @William Swingle YouTube account, time to go check it out! he's killing it as an owner-operator... i enjoyed watching his high performing videos the other day and I believe there is a lot we can all learn from what he is doing 👌 P.S. YouTube algorithm is very much like SEO — if you can create videos that are optimized for your local area + service, you will not only show up on YouTube's algo, but also have a better chance at showing up on Google Search algorithm

business name / brand
New guys, welcome in! You’re here because you don’t want to just be “a guy with a machine” – you want a real business. That starts with making decisions fast and living with them So we’re going to train that decision-making muscle today. Over the next 24 hours: 1. Post your Brand Name + Logo below 2. If you don’t have a name/logo yet: This isn’t about perfect branding. It’s about getting out of neutral. Indecision is what keeps a lot of (could be) great operators stuck. Make a decision, post it below, and we’ll give you feedback so you can move forward let's make it a great week! 💪

requested prayers for Jordan...
one of my friend's older brother was operating a forestry mulcher on his ranch in Texas apparently the machine caught fire and nearly killed him I don't know many details other than it's a miracle he made it to the hospital.... wanted to share in this group for two reasons: 1. It's a good reminder to respect these machines and take proper safety measures every time you operate. We also have a responsibility as leaders to make sure to have proper safety measures in place for our crews. good reminder to take the necessary time each day to keep your machines free & clear of debris and allow them proper time to cool down 2. Please keep Jordan in your thoughts and prayers as he is in critical condition things like this put life in perspective... a good reminder to not take anything for granted as any day could be our last hug your wife & kids extra tonight and much appreciation ahead of time for anyone who takes time to say a prayer for Jordan's recovery 🙏
