Heat soaking
Hey guys! Long time no talk. So Iโ€™ve been pretty fortunate the last two months as far as jobs/work booked. Iโ€™ve completed around 50k worth of work in the last two months, my goal at the beginning was 15k a month so this is outstanding! But Iโ€™ve got a problem. Iโ€™m running a Bobcat T770 with a ShearX 61โ€ mulching head. Iโ€™ve NEVER had any heat soaking issues, but weโ€™ve also been fortunate to not have 90ยฐ weather. Except this week. I was in the middle of a job yesterday and the machine threw โ€œHigh engine compartment heatโ€ code 3 different times shutting me down each time. I religiously clean the cooling packs every morning, clean the screens and all multiple times a day. I rinse out the rads every weekend and all. Itโ€™s not a buildup issue. I contacted my dealer (whoโ€™s been a nightmare since the start, will not purchase anything from them again) and Iโ€™ve contacted the guy I bought the mulcher from. Heโ€™s an experienced mulching head dealer with 2 machines of his own. Dealer didnโ€™t say much, mulching head guy said to get rooftop cooler. My question is, do any of you have a Roof Top cooler and how much do you think it actually helps? Like I said, Iโ€™ve never had this problem yet with my T770 but I believe the Hydro system is heat soaking the engine compartment in this hot weather mixed with the heat the mulcher creates. A rooftop cooler is roughly $6,600 so Iโ€™m asking for real world results and opinions from people that may have experienced this. Thanks!

Contracts T's & C's?
Does anyone use a contract signed by the customer to agree on what is being done, cost, address, etc? If so do you also have a legal portion with Terms and Conditions on it that you make the customer sign when accepting the down payment?
Jobber
I signed up with jobber yesterday and i think itโ€™s going to be an amazing addition to my toolbox of software. I would recommend them. I told them that i heard about jobber from Austin and they gave me an additional discount on top of their current promos they are running. Thank you @Austin Gray for the recommendation

Start now without CDLโ€ฆ or wait and go bigger?
Trying to think through the smartest way to launch Iron Wolf Land Clearing here in Northeast TX. I see two paths: Option A โ€” Start Immediately (No CDL) โ€ข 3/4 ton or 1-ton pickup (F250/F350) โ€ข 14K dump or equipment trailer โ€ข ~8,500โ€“10,500 lb skid steer โ€ข Forestry mulcher โ€ข Maybe a grapple / bucket Stay under CDL thresholds and start generating revenue fast. Option B โ€” Get CDL First, Go Bigger โ€ข 1-ton dually or medium-duty truck โ€ข 20K+ gooseneck trailer โ€ข Heavier skid steer / dedicated mulching machine โ€ข More attachments / higher production capacity Bigger jobs, more capacity โ€” but slower to start. For those already doing this: If you were starting overโ€ฆ which route would you take? And what specific setup (truck, trailer, machine, attachments) would you recommend for each path? Appreciate any insight โ€” trying to make a smart move, not just a fast one ๐Ÿค
