Spine Workshop from Saturday
Really excited to share this workshop with you all. It's half hour theory and half hour of getting your spine more fluid! I would love for you to have a watch, share with a friend if you feel it appropriate and get back to me with any questions, comments or feedback that comes up. https://youtu.be/xkLUzPLJwMM

Thank you for this recording, Emma. I really appreciate the "anatomy" introduction, and the acturate explanations. There is one spot in my lower back I nearly do not have access to while lying on the floor, and I fear it is not at all approached while standing... I have a question concerning the back bend (neck, upper spine, then lower spine) - you seem to shift your hips forward, when bending back in the lower back. Did I see that right, and if yes, is it required?

@Emma Robson Thank you, Emma!
Weekly Class has Resumed!
We’re excited to announce that our weekly movement class will be resuming from Monday. Each Monday at 4pm Perth time we’ll have a Groundwork style Movement class live online… The class will have a little bit of everything! We like to think of it like a mixed bag of fun 🤩 each week we will stick to our core movement qualities and the search for more coordination but it will be approached in various ways from week to week. Expect some standing, dropping into the body, increasing sensory awareness and internal dialogue. Followed by things like balance, coordination, crawling, hopping, jumping, rolling…. It’s best to always have a basketball, a few jenga blocks and a small trigger release ball handy. See you this Monday!

Wonderful! Sorry for not attending, I am after final examn in holiday mood for some time, but I am definitely greatful for the recordings!
Play Time - Work out these 5 patterns!
5 Full Body Contralateral Patterns that will help you with finding harmony and bringing together the 5 movement qualities we seek. The video gives you about a 15sec demo of each. I would work on one at a time until it sinks in then move on. Once you get them all, see if you can maintain each pattern for 90seconds back to back in a circuit.

I really love this sequence! I am currently sitting and writing my thesis until August 14th, an this is one of the movement snacks to get me moving "in between", to generate some "heat" as well. And yes, what happens in our head when we mess up?... I do not really know in a biological sense, but trying again is just what I want to do! Thanks a lot, @Emma Robson! 🙏

@Emma Robson Yes, because it eases my whole body (and soul) up.
Spinal Waves + Coordination
This Saturday morning join me for Spinal Eaves and Coordination. Over the 5 years we had Aspen Movement Gym here in Perth this was one of our most popular classes. We will wiggle, articulate, dance about to get the spine free and more lubricated. Then arm swings to loosen off tension in the neck and remind our bodies that our arms are rooted deep into our torso. And of course, it wouldn't be complete without some coordinative work that gets our brains to REALLY think about how we move and organise ourself in space. I recommend having some music of your own that you enjoy moving to. Here's the playlist I'd be listening to if I wasn't recording :) https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6mRPZ0xscpoiWqT41Ogyl3?si=OhpaY9-hTUWhSpffom3wiw&pi=2HTbOr2kSBCGm&nd=1&dlsi=664cf06b9bd4404a When: This Saturday at 9:00 AM AWST Where: Click the event link on the calendar to join. The session will run for 60minutes. PS If you have partners, friends that want to trial this and join you, we don't mind extra people on your screen.

Daily Practice Live - Tuesday!
This Tuesday, we’re excited to introduce something new — our first-ever Live Daily Practice at sunrise. Join us for a guided experience of slow, introspective movement designed to: • Awaken your body mindfully with the sun, attuning cortisol and melatonin for the day. • Enhance neural mapping, proprioception and awareness.. meaning you improve how you ‘listen’ to your body. • Improve overall coordination and joint harmony so you function better and don’t hurt so much. For those in our Groundwork Program you will be familiar as this forms a large part of our ongoing practice. This practice requires no experience—just a willingness to be present in your body. We will be standing, moving through ranges, articulating joints in controlled patterns, working from the feet to the head. For the fullest sensory experience, we recommend participating barefoot and outdoors if your environment permits. When: This Tuesday at 6:00 AM AWST Where: Click the event link on the calendar to join. The session will run for 45-55 minutes.
