Why you should create a Social Media following
An interesting story with an unexpected outcome. We are a husband and wife team with a reasonable size audience on YouTube and a growing one on TikTok. My wife decided that as she has been away from the classroom for a couple of years it would be a good idea to have a refresh and do a couple of weeks classroom teaching this summer. She applied to a local school and with her CV, she included links to YouTube and a Tiktok video that went sort of viral this week. The result, not only did she get a job, but they've uplifted her pay by over 50% due to, as they call it, her celebrity status! In return they just wanted to use her in their marketing, which is of course a win for us. In case you are interested, here is the video (apologies to all Americans 😁)https://www.tiktok.com/@englishwithliz/video/7352902199489350944?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc&web_id=7354255886297351712 - very easy to make and I am sure a lot of you could replicate something similar. So get recording 🎥

Offer formula 5in30
Hi, I’m loving the course so far but I’ve got myself stuck and I can’t move on!!! I’ve been going round in circles for days trying to get my “offer formula” clear. At the moment the services I offer are neurolanguage coaching packages 1:1 and in groups (although not managed to get a group yet) and a community membership. As its hard to get people in my membership my business mentor Rachael Robers suggested creating a small course to sell which gives people access to the membership and hopefully then they'll stay. I signed up for this course to help me design that small course. I’d like the course to give them a window into my world and show them how I work. I have my own approach that I call the CALM way (community, action plan, language and mindset which I use to help people feel more confident using their English. The poing being that thye need more than juts the language to improve their fluency, they also need a system/habits (action plan) and to work on their blocks (mindset) and that learning is social (the reason for my community) My ICA is based on real people I’ve worked with and loved working with: Often perfectionist Maybe introverted Definitely lack confidence Busy Mindset issues rather than language that's holding them back but don't know that Frustrated because they know they're missing out on opportunities to: Connect with colleagues in a deeper way Show what they know/can do Make friends outside of work Feel like people judge their ability to do their job based on their English Don't feel like they belong Desired state: Express ideas clearly without getting tongue-tied Be able to communicate their expertise Feel respected Make small talk (at work) Socialise outside of work Be able to be/feel like themselves Feeling happy and less stressed (stress affecting their personal life - don't sleep well, worry too much, work too much to make it "perfect" I’ve come up with a couple of offer formulas but none of them convince me and it’s driving me crazy!

Great post Lisa and IMO your offer formulas appear on track - I agree drop the 'busy', brain-friendly & CALM and maybe just make it a bit more positive focusing on outcome after the self identity bit - I thought of giving you a rewrite but I'll leave that to the pros. 😀

@Michael Toczek Michael, don't fall for the 'there's better content out there' trap! Some of the biggest course creators don't have the best course content, but have got something out there and it's gained traction. Just keep swimming 😀

@Margaret Leuris You have to build an audience by giving value. Share your thoughts and ideas on the speaking test of the Cambridge First exam on Insta, Tiktok ,& YouTube. It takes time and effort but it does work. That's the approach we took and know it works.

Hey there! Welcome to the Teacherpreneur Support Network! @Michael Landry , @Leonardo Gomes and I are excited to have you here. Over the past half decade, we’ve surveyed thousands of teachers from around the world, and there are two things they are passionate about: finding news ways to improve their teaching and having a steady income. These combined play a major role in teacher wellbeing, and the main goal of this community is to help you develop in both of these areas. To kick things off, Step 1: Make your first post HERE by using the template below: Let everyone know: 1. Your name 2. Why you joined this community 3. Your business goal for the next 30 days 4. What you're looking for help with in this community. Step 2: Learn how to get unstuck & set up your foundations - start with Module 1 here. *See Step 3 below _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The goal of this network is to help YOU and other aspiring teacherpreneurs feel confident in setting up their teaching businesses the right way. Watch the video below, answer the poll, and introduce yourself as an orientation to the platform and this community. The community here will be what we all make it. Let's not consume passively but rather contribute actively, build accountability, and help each other along the way. Some ways to do this: - make useful posts consistently - share tips that have worked for you - ask good questions - offer advice to those you believe you can help One thing is for sure: everyone here wants to see YOU succeed. STEP 3 RESOURCES: Everyone is at a different stage of their business, and we have resources here to help you with where you are.

@Teresa Dossor we're currently putting a pronunciation course together, and if you need feedback we're always happy to bounce ideas around.😀

@Teresa Dossor Sure, it's hard work, but interesting at the same time. First exploring the different models, then the different modes of delivery. It's definitely been two steps forward and one back, but we're getting there. I think we will end up with a community based model, like the guys on here. I also think we can all learn from each other and support each other, hence the offer. So feel free to reach out, as together we are stronger. Have a great weekend.

Help is coming ... What happens when 6 experts gather together to tackle the same problem – low earnings in ELT? Find out on Tuesday, February 27. Comment on this post and I'll make sure you get the info on Tuesday. Otherwise, stay tuned .... Hint: this is going to be very cool - especially if you know Nicola or her work at all.

@Sinziana Socol totally agree. Making a living charging by the hour, is not only hard, intense work, there's a ceiling to what you can earn. We don't offer 1 to 1, however our rates came from a 'ninja mind game test'. If you're not familiar with this, here's a quick explanation. I sit opposite a teacher and watch their expression and say "would you teach 1 to 1 for $20 hr", then keep pushing the price up - "would you teach 1 to 1 for $25 hr" etc. etc. At a certain price point most teacher's expression will change to a more accepting one - that's the Ninja price point and one they're happy with😁

@Andrew Woodbury Some interesting growth stories, but the access to the interviews was torturous, with too many lead magnets. Just my experience 🤷🏻‍♂️
