My switch from Canva Pro to Shotcut
A few weeks ago, after an update from Canva, I noticed that it took me more time to edit my videos. Therefore I started looking at alternatives. DaVinci Resolve turned out to be too heavy for my laptops, so I tried Shotcut. So far, I am very pleased with the results. The editing takes me less time and I am learning a lot of new things. Following Alexa's 30-day challenge, I decided to create a short in Shotcut. The goal is to reach a new audience and convince them to watch the long form videos on one of my favorite topics. I could not link to a playlist directly, but have linked to the first video of the playlist and provided a link to the playlist in the pinned comment. Of course, I hope this will work as planned, but I think this video is already a winner given that I managed to make using a new to me video editing software.

@Jeroen van Dinther Thank you for the reply! I'm pretty sure I'll start a membership before new year. I'm filming first videos about the memberships tomorrow, so if you have any tips for those, they will be appreciated😀
1,000 Subscribers!
After over 1 year of consistent weekly uploads, I've reached 1,000 subscribers. I just want to thank @Alexa Saarenoja for starting this group when she did. I was lucky enough to find her channel way back before she was monetized and was inspired to take the plunge into YouTube because of something she said. I believe that with persistence and patience, it is possible to grow your channel and find your audience. Although I am on the slow growth path, I'm building my channel in a way that feels authentic to me. Thank you--especially to the people who were with me in that first cohort of this group. So many of you were instrumental at that time. You shared your perspective and expertise and you helped me to have the audacity to think I could do this. I will always be grateful for that. 💚

Maybe starting a membership🤔
I’ve been planning to start a YouTube membership at the beginning of next year. The start of the year tends to be a good time for an exercise channel, and I believe views and engagement will likely increase then. I haven’t made a final decision yet, but a few messages and comments have strengthened the idea. A few weeks ago, one viewer even sent me an email asking for my affiliate links so they could order something and make sure I’d get a commission. And today, one enthusiastic subscriber asked for my bank account number so they could send a monthly payment to support my work. Even though it’s just two people, it really made me feel that when you offer people something valuable, they’re willing to support it (even though they could access it for free). Today I published a video where I talked a bit about money. I used to run these remote workouts as a paid service, but partly because of financial challenges, I ended that paid service—it wasn’t profitable—and started the YouTube channel instead. In today’s video, I talked about that time period. In an upcoming video, I’ll be summarizing my first two years on YouTube, and I’ll probably discuss the amount of work involved and such. And if I do launch the channel membership, I’ll likely mention it in that video as well. We also talked about YouTube memberships in this week’s call, so I’d be happy to hear if anyone has experience with it. I’ve personally built member pages on a WordPress website before, so I know the challenges, workload, and costs involved. That’s why, in this case, I’d gladly pay YouTube 30% of the income—since they’ll have a shared interest in making the membership work and generate revenue. And once I finally get my 70+ audience to become YouTube users, I definitely don’t want to confuse them by sending them off to some other platform. And since my audience is also Finnish-speaking, not all platforms would even work well for them. 😅

@Mike Bayer Thanks, Great video👍. Other platforms are cheaper, but you can't change the language. At least in Youtube those "Join membership" buttons and other channel info is in finnish. Probably for me one of the biggest challenges will be that my audience doesn't usually want to use credit card when buying something in internet. You can easily but Google pay giftcards in Finland, so I will be promoting those. 😁
YT work flow
HI Folks! I am writing for a favour, I can not make these weekly calls due to conflict with child pick up (don't have any help here for that). Can someone please ask or even answer me if you have it all figured out, how to work flow? How do you organise the work flow? I have 6 pillars I am focused on....how do you keep track of when you filmed, edited, and then linked a following YT video that follows the topic you just talked about...? Google docs with a thousand toggles? Notion- which I haven't figured out yet.... ? How do you keep everything sorted without loosing your mind or ideas? Many thanks in advance.
