🗳️ January Skill Focus Challenge Is Locked In (What Will You Choose)
We ran the vote. And starting Jan 5, we are doing something simple but powerful. 👉 ONE skill. ONE week. EVERY day. That is the commitment. Not intensity. Not perfect sessions. Just a daily touch. And we are going to film it and post it so we can be proud, encourage each other and get coached. 1 minute counts. 30 minutes counts. Showing up is the win. 🔁 How the weekly skill focus works Week 1 (starting Jan 5) You pick ONE skill You work on it every day for that week Short, long, messy, playful, focused. It all counts. Week 2 and beyond You get options: - Stay with the same skill and go deeper - Move to a harder progression - Switch to a brand new skill I will also give weekly suggestions so no one feels stuck or overwhelmed. This keeps things fresh without losing consistency. 🧠 What we are doing until Jan 4 We are using this thread to decide what skill YOU want to focus on. Comment below with: - The skill you want to work on OR - Say “I am not sure” and I will suggest one for you 💡 Skill ideas if you want inspiration Strength-based skills - Pull-ups or chin-ups - L-sit - Tuck front lever - Dips or straight bar support - Muscle-up progressions Technical skills - Handstand (wall or freestanding) - Handstand balance drills - Crow pose or elbow lever - Cartwheel or handstand exits - Flow transitions Mobility and movement skills - Deep squat comfort - Cossack squats - Jefferson curl control - Animal movements - Hanging and shoulder mobility You do NOT need to be “ready” for a skill. You just need to start touching it. This is how skills actually stick. Daily exposure. Low pressure. High consistency. 💬 Comment below with the ONE skill you want to work on for Week 1 Or ask for a suggestion and I will help you choose. Let’s start January with clarity, not chaos.

Hanging and shoulder mobility 😊
Push-ups, shoulders, and mobility
I have very tight shoulders. I can do push‑ups but I feel like my body won’t let me use a full range of motion. The tightness is especially noticeable at the bottom of the push‑up. Should I pause push‑ups and focus on improving shoulder mobility first, or should I keep doing push‑ups (modified push-ups?) while working on mobility at the same time? My concern is whether doing push‑ups with limited shoulder mobility could actually make my shoulder/neck stiffness worse.

@Ajay S Thank you so much for sharing this! I really appreciate it—I’ll definitely give it a try.

@Karyn Ainsworth thank you for the advice!
Accountability (ftp)
Did my 20 pushups (5 standard, 15 modified because my upper body is not my strong point), 25 bw squats, 10 front kicks (each leg), 12 leg lifts, and a 30-second plank. Will do a 1/2-mile walk after I feed dogs. Hi! I'm a 40-yo WAHM who homeschools 3 (13, 10, and 6); homesteads on 6 acres while my husband works shift or extra duty jobs; and keeps a home with 3 dogs and a billion unwanted squirrels. I was diagnosed with RRMS 13 years ago, and am still beating the odds by not being in a chair, being pretty functional in general, and not being on an NG tube. 🙃 I got into this community because I am "farm strong," but feel kinda flabby and not as strong as I once was. I want to keep this "unusually functional" thing as long as possible (and maybe recomp some of this loose skin feeling into something that makes /me/ feel a little more comfortable)!

Welcome! Wow, that’s an impressive workout—especially with everything you juggle every day. Homeschooling three kids, managing a homestead, and caring for dogs (plus those squirrels!) is no small feat. Your determination to stay strong and functional despite RRMS is truly inspiring. You’re already proving how powerful consistency and resilience can be. Keep sharing your wins; they motivate us all. 💪
🎄 Advent Adventure – Day 16 & 17: Cartwheel Variations 🤸‍♂️✨
Today’s skill is Cartwheel Variations — not for gymnastics points, but to learn how to get out of handstands safely. If you can cartwheel, you can bail sideways instead of panicking forward or backward. Pick your level: ✅ Beginner: Sideways jumps + height over time 🔄 Explorer: Smooth cartwheel (both hands) 🔥 Expert: One-hand cartwheel or paused cartwheel ➡️ Think sideways exit, not height. ⏱ 3–5 minutes is plenty. Quality over speed. 🎥 Videos encouraged! Side angles are great for this one. Post a ✅ or clip to lock in Day 16 ❄️🔥

@Karyn Ainsworth Trust me - most of those people are just jealous because they can’t even do half of what you can! One day, your “stupid shit” is going to turn into seriously cool stuff. Just trust the process! I’m with @Nicole Paulino on this - you’re amazing!
Daily Action Log 🎄[Dec. 15 – Dec. 21 | Almost Christmas]
Consistency isn’t built on motivation. It’s built by showing up, especially when life gets loud. That’s why this space exists. The Daily Action Log is where small actions compound into real progress, one day at a time. This week is almost Christmas. Schedules are packed. Energy is split. Distractions are everywhere. Which makes this practice more important than ever. You don’t need perfect workouts. You just need to keep moving. 🎄 December Advent Calendar is live Each day brings a different movement challenge: strength, skills, mobility, or play. 🔥 Christmas Push-Up Challenge As a community, we’re working toward 5,000 push-ups by Christmas. Every rep counts. What counts this week? 💪 Strength training for 10–30 minutes? Log it. 🤸 Skill work like handstands, hangs, balance, or flow? Post it. 🧘 Mobility, stretching, walking, recovery, or Advent movement? It all counts. Even 2–5 minutes matters. Especially during busy weeks like this. This week isn’t about intensity. It’s about momentum. Stacking days. Keeping habits alive. Staying connected through the holidays. 👉 How to use this space: - Post what you did today - Include time or reps if you want feedback - Like or comment on others’ posts to build accountability Showing up here builds discipline, not just fitness. 💬 What movement, skill, or Advent challenge did you complete today? Drop it below ⬇️

Upper body strength, skill practice + some mobility drills

@Brandon Beauchesne-Hebert Yes, I am! Progress on L-sits has been pretty slow, though. I’m working on hip flexion strength and hamstring flexibility. I can do L-sits on parallettes, but not on the floor.
