Wwise or FMOD?
Hi, everyone! I would like to know your opinion and so pick 'em up about the two main Audio Engines out there! I learned both, there are two completely different logics, personally I found FMOD more intuitive, but Wwise has got really more functions! What do you think about it?

From what I have heard, fmod seems more common with indies while wwise is more common in AAA. As usual with caveats. As an example, Celeste used fmod (https://www.fmod.com/docs/2.03/studio/appendix-a-celeste.html) while Dying Light and The Witcher 3 used wwise (https://cdprojektred.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/W3REDkit/pages/6327994/HOW-TO+Implement+sounds+and+use+Wwise and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e79F94zbJRg). The studios that still develop their own engines will likely have a custom solution. As for which to pick: fmod is probably the more common by numbers. To an extent it probably doesn't matter too much which one you pick as the main concepts are likely similar.
Are you willing to watch a video in another language with subtitles?
This post might be a little off topic, but I'm asking for a general survey, since I'm recording some "case study" videos to publish on Youtube. The language I'm recording them in is Italian (my language) since I can be much more empathetic than in English. You, as viewers, how do you adapt in this case? Are you willing to read subtitles or do you prefer to follow the videos in English?

I'd love to see more content in Italian on this topic :) Your reach might be smaller, but you will also reach a different audience that might not be as confident with English. A friend and I are considering doing some graphics programming videos in Italian as well. It could also be a good lead generation to work with local studios or students (if that's something you're interested in).
Info about new PC for cinematic music
Hi, I need advice about new PC to buy sooner or later: For cinematic music which are the minimum of requirements to care of? Intel or AMD? Which model? Which minimum RAM? Which minimum power must the processor have (3,5Ghz, 4Ghz, 4core, 8core..) Now I am on a 2,4Ghz Xeon, 16gb of RAM (I know, I know, very weak system) Many thanks

I would recommend at least 8 cores, something like an AMD 7800X (full disclosure, I work for AMD). If you can afford it, go for a 7950X. As Alex mentioned, at least 32 GB, though I would go for 64 (or more if you can). Then 1 (or 2) TB Nvme for the OS and programs. If you can, and if your MB has enough slots. I would go for at least another 2/4 TB Nvme to stream the samples. Another option could be to use 2 2/4 TB SSDs, so that you can spread the load for streaming samples. I see people tend to put strings on one drive, and the rest on another. But it's not a hard rule. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions :)
Happy New Year - let's rock 2025!
Dear everyone, I hope you had a great start into 2025! I was actually a bit away from the interwebs to recharge my batteries. Now I am back to help you guys getting your dream career or gig in 2025. Once again, please leave all the negative thoughts and fears behind and look forward to rocking this year! Here are a few first steps you can take to get closer to your goal. First of all, you need an action plan. If you need help with this, always feel free to reach out. I am here every week during six weekly live calls to personally help you with everything you need ... and personal track feedback as long as you want! 😎 Anyway, the action plan should ignore the entire big journey ahead and only focus on the first few things we should get going: Your target industry, a dedicated demo reel that should be set up within an hour (except writing the music of course), targeted application email and message texts, 10-15 mins every day to reach out to all the opportunities and people out there. Also, if you feel a task being too big or you don't have that much time, break it down to several smaller tasks that are achievable within a few minutes/hours or a day. For example: Setting up your demo reel - Start checking your older work by picking 3-5 tracks first matching your target group. Forget about all the stuff involving writing new music and so on. Need help? I am always here!

Substack for music?
Hey everyone, I had this idea (and probably saw it mentioned elsewhere as well) that artists might benefit from a dedicate platform like substack, but for music. Is this something people might be interested in or are services like patreon and substack enough already?

Fair point about yet another app. My experience is probably different as I barely use my phone and I read the few substacks I am subscribed to through email. Which also raises another point: would this work through email only? > Is it different enough from other popular social media, such as Facebook? From my understanding, substack is not akin other social media platforms. It's more of a blogging platform where you can subscribe to individual "blogs". Some of this content is behind a paywall, which is how the writers make their money. > Any thoughts on what this has to offer that can't be achieved with current platforms? That's what I am trying to find out. I am guessing you could achieve the same through substack. You can embed YT videos, so I am guessing it would be easy to embed soundcloud or bandcamp playlists there as well. I am guessing the main differentiator could be the focus on music. Substack is primarily for writers and you have a wide variety of topics (from cooking to politics, etc.) Discovering musicians on that platform might be hard. Thanks for the feedback, really appreciate it!
