ADHD Snapshot Part 2
Section 2 of my Snapshot just called out something I never connected before. The same reason I stayed in bad relationships in college is the same reason I can't stop impulse buying on Amazon. Different behavior, same pattern underneath. Turns out it was never about willpower. It's a nervous system thing.

Wow! Thank you for clarifying me. A lifetime of bad relationships AND an Amazon addiction. That actually makes sense now.
How old?
Just wondering how old people were when they discovered they had ADHD. I am 58 and I have found out more about myself and why I feel the way I do which is an eye opener. I think my dad may also have ADHD and he is 87. I don’t know if it’s something that he would be interested in but he does have some of the “traits” I just wondered if there are people older than 87 who have just discovered themselves.

I was 36 when I was formally diagnosed. I've had it, I now know, since I was 10. I don't know if multiple head injuries from a horrific car accident exacerbated it, but that's when everything changed for me. I guess I'll never know. I do know it runs strongly through my family. My mother joked, before she passed, "Maybe I have ADHD too". To which I replied: "Ya think?!"😁 So, if you have it, he probably does as well.
I Am Phoenix Empowered
Hi, my name is Lola. I’m living in Vermont, hale from Kentucky, and am in the process of transplanting to Tennessee soon. I’m a content creator, artist, and someone trying to build a business while also managing real life, real stress, and a very ADHD/(possibly Autistic) brain. I have a diagnosis of ADHD, experience in trauma recovery, caregiving, creativity, overwhelm, and starting over more times than I ever planned to. You can ask me questions about: customer service and content creation cake decorating and catering journaling and healing caregiving and stress rebuilding life after hard things figuring out how to work with your brain instead of constantly fighting it I want to get these things from ADHD Harmony: better focus better follow-through practical strategies I can actually stick with support from people who get it more structure, more peace, and less frustration For fun, I like to: write make things learn weirdly deep things listen to music chase meaningful ideas and follow the occasional mental side quest learning AI Something meaningful to me is the Phoenix, because that pretty much sums me up.

@Deb Brouwer Thank you — I really appreciate that. It feels good to land somewhere that actually gets it. And yes, building a business with an ADHD (and possibly autistic) brain… some days it flows, some days it’s all over the place. The Phoenix, for me, is personal. It’s not just about rising once — it’s about doing it over and over again after life knocks everything down. I’ve had to rebuild more times than I can count. Each time I come back a little stronger and a little clearer on who I am. “Phoenix empowered” means I’m not just surviving it anymore. I’m choosing how I rise. I’m more aware, I hold better boundaries, and I don’t lose myself the way I used to. And “The Art of Unbothered”… depends on the day. Sometimes it’s peace, sometimes it’s just letting things go, and sometimes my brain really has left the chat. I like the zebra too — standing out without trying. I’m glad to be here. It feels like the right kind of space.

@Tracy Weiss I'm searching for rural. My goal is somewhere around Claiborne county, though I was debating between Tennessee and Oklahoma, trees and mountains are winning the debate. Being from Kentucky and living in the Green Mountain State (Vermont) makes my choice easier. I just visited Texas, Southern Alabama, and Mississippi last month for the first time. I prefer something more in the forest than the flatlands. And, yes, Lola is rare to hear, unless someone names their dog Lola...which doesn't sit well with me.😁 (I overheard a woman in the drive thru at the bank yell "Shut up, Lola" and that really irked me.)
My testimony
For you Jim! Thank you for this opportunity!

Thank you for your testimony. I'm hoping that the 5-day challenge works as well for me. I suspect I may also have some spectrum of Autism mixed in but, though I was diagnosed in my 30s, I was never told what ADHD meant. I just thought my brain didn't work like everyone else's. So I'm hoping I can get something out of the challenge that will help me understand myself, and my children and grandchildren, more.
