Tiny Step🪴 Jan 16, 2026
Hello to our amazing women 💛 If you’re new here, each Friday we share one simple Tiny Step, something gentle, doable, and realistic, even on full days. These are small actions meant to create a little more peace and clarity right where you are. This week’s Tiny Step is a grounding practice designed to bring a sense of calm into your body in under a minute. It’s called 5-Sense Grounding. Whenever you remember today or this weekend, pause for a moment and gently name: 1 thing you can see 1 thing you can hear 1 thing you can feel 1 thing you can smell Then take 1 slow, intentional breath That’s it. Just coming back into the moment. I hope this brings you a small pocket of peace wherever you are today. 😊

I see our familiar coffee shop, while hearing pinball machines, knowing my husband and boys are energetically playing games. I smell my peppermint mocha and savor the rich taste. I feel warmth from the family time celebrating my son’s birthday, yet cold AC in the building. I breathe in and cherish the moment. Love this pause to reflect!
One Mindful Thing
Does anyone care to share a mindful thing that happened this week? One thing that stopped you and made you make a decision to choose a slower choice? Ribs. Mine was baby back ribs. Typically not a thing to cook just for myself, but-why not? I have no dinner plans lined up, so again, why not? I prepped them, fired up the smoker, and cooked them for hours. Tender and flakey, with just a little edge char-and the sauce was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. And I licked my fingers. And I loved every delicious bite. So glad I put that much effort into something just for me-that I really enjoyed. How about you?

@Connie Riet That is so fun! My husband is an artist but I haven’t painted alongside him. I find creativity in other ways. However, my unofficial job is being his art critic. 😊

@Celeste Elash Sounds like a natural choice to continue writing, yet in a new way. I wish you success with your new book and retirement journey! You give great encouragement.
Live call yesterday
Yesterday's coaching call was insightful. One of the highlights about these calls is when get so many amazing women sharing ideas. @Jennifer Kearney I loved your analogy about self care and how it relates to "having a splinter in your finger, it's not a luxury to remove it, it is necessary". This was gold! @Kim Harrison Thank you for sharing your own journey with self care. It was so profound that you started practicing self care for the ones you love, which turned into practicing self care because you love yourself. Look forward to our call next week❤️

I’ve already quoted Jennifer‘s analogy to my friend I had lunch with yesterday. Amazing insight!

Each Friday in this group, I’ll be sharing one simple “Tiny Step” you can take toward a little more peace and clarity, using small, doable actions. This is our first Tiny Step together. Today’s Tiny Step: Clean out your purse or everyday bag 👜 Take everything out, wipe the inside, and only put back what you truly use. Our bags can hold a lot, not just items, but clutter, stress, and forgotten things. After you’ve done this, notice how it feels the next time you reach for it. Does anything feel lighter, calmer, or easier? If you do this step, comment “done” or share what you noticed. I’d love to hear how this feels for you, and we’ll check in again next week.

My purse is clean! Am I the only one who has to carry a few items for my husband? He’s forever needing a tissue, breath mint, or glasses cleaning cloth. (I don’t mind, but it seems to be our bag!)

Easing into retirement
For you ladies who are retired, what do you know now, that you’d wished you’d realized 10 years prior….5 years prior….2 years prior….. I’m not taking my foot off the gas, but would like the transition to be more gradual then -work one day- the next day ?

@Rebecca Loetscher I love your thoughtful planning! I will likely retire from healthcare early, but find a simple way to still make an income. I will enjoy watching everyone’s journey!
