Valuation for free Skool groups
Hi @Travis Sago I know you’re on the hunt for Skool groups. How do you do the valuation on those? Especially the free ones? Thanks!
@Travis Sago thank you

So I’m working on a FUN-NEL in REAL TIME. (NOT in my head!) The dude watches my video and replies back… “I love the open loop.” Before you look at the pic… How would you respond? Then look at the pic. 👉 And comment WHY I responded the way I did! 👇 If we get 50 comments I’ll show you the REST of the convo! (I’ll unlock more in the comments as we get closer to the answer.) Update: See full convo and breakdown 👇

Man...regardless of why you responded that way... I LOVE what you're doing here in the comment section. You basically said it yourself: If people notice the TOOL instead of the benefit...we haven't done our job. And when they see they are being "sold", their guards go up. By giving him that reply, you brought his guards back down and instead got him to put the truth on the table.
Before I send this... did I get it right?
Hey @Travis Sago, about to send this pre-auction email to the guy we talked about in the other thread... Meta Ads expert / Marketing Agency growth expert. His audience are a) business owners running ads for their own brands b) media buyers (agency owners + freelancers) Trying to figure out if I should do a Dutch or common auction. And whether there's enough demand to make the 1-on-1 consulting / coaching worthwhile. Here's what I've whipped up: "Hey NAME, I’m thinking about doing something fun. And possibly crazy. Not sure if I should, though. Can you help me decide, por favor? If I were to auction off a slot – maybe two – for me to be your wingman… And help you increase the ROAS you’re getting for your brand or for your clients, add $10k per month to your business (or more, depending on where you are), increase your client retention, your profits, or whatever is holding you back at the moment… …would you bid at least $1? I’ll only do it if enough people tell me they would bid for it… Reply to this email and let me know which option applies to you. A) I’m in, I’ll bid at least $1 B) Not sure. I’d need more details before placing any bid C) I’d rather sort my spam folder alphabetically than take part in the auction" What can I improve here?
@Travis Sago thanks so much for your help. I was actively trying NOT to sell the hammer and yet I did. How's this? Almost there? Not sure if I’m really going to do this. Help me decide, por favor… I’m thinking about helping a couple of media buyers as their Meta ads wingman… and we go hunting for money leaks to plug… turn “barely breaks even unless I babysit it” campaigns into grown-ups… and dial up spend without watching sales fall off a cliff… Now, if I were to auction off these couple “wingman slots”... would you throw at least a dollar at it? A) Yeah, I would bid at least $1 B) Nope. I’d rather sort my spam folder alphabetically than bid for this Hit reply with a quick A or B. I’ll only consider it if enough people want it.
@Travis Sago you are an endless source of wisdom. Thanks so much for your quick reply and help!
How (fast) to pivot
Hi @Travis Sago. Let's say you do a pre-auction and it bombs. It would feel kinda weird hitting them with the next angle the next day...asking them if they would bid a dollar for whatever the new offer is... wouldn't it? How do you approach this? Just tell them: hey I asked you if you would bid a dollar for x, and it seems like you weren't all that into it... how about y? Or would you wait some time, nurture them and then drop to the next pre-auction post/mail?
How would you handle this auction structure?
@Travis Sago , I’d love your take on a specific auction setup for a creator with a dormant list. Context: We want to auction an 8-week 1-1 coaching program, in which he'd help agency owners where he acts as a consultant to help the winner rebuild their current systems with AI with the focus of increasing client retention. The creator only wants to fulfill it if the winning bids are “worth his time.” If bids come in around $1k, he’d need ~10 buyers, but offering 10 slots kills the exclusivity that makes the auction exciting. I’m currently looking at two possible structures and want to check which one you feel is smarter: Option A: Run a regular auction with 1–3 slots, but keep an internal reserve price. If the reserve isn’t met, the slot simply isn’t awarded. Not sure if he can line up one person before the auction who would take the slot at the reserve. But would try to do that as well. Option B: Run a Dutch auction starting high and dropping the price until someone accepts. Concern: the list is cold, so real-time attention and fast reactions might not be strong enough. Which approach would you choose for a dormant audience — and why?
@Travis Sago He's got around 18k email subscribers, 7k YouTube subscribers, 8k on IG, a FB Page with 22k followers, a facebook group with around 23k members. And his Circle community with 200 paid members, and 1000 free members (basically paid members who have lapsed and therefore turned into a restricted membership that's free) No, I haven’t run the pre-auction yet.
@Travis Sago so i would start with the “would you bid at least $1”, then comment on the post and ask them about their max bid?
