Spent 5 minutes every day during this advent with the IDG
✨The Rflect Advent Calendar is back. This December, you can take a few mindful minutes each day to reconnect with yourself and cultivate the 25 Inner Development Goals (IDG) competencies - one small practice, one powerful question, one moment of inner clarity at a time. 🧭Filled with new micro-exercises and reflections 💡Inspired by what we’ve learned from thousands of students and educators 🌱Rooted in the belief that inner work fuels outer change Whether you follow along daily or dip in whenever you need a moment of grounding, this Advent Calendar is an invitation to pause, notice, and grow. Inner development starts with a few minutes of attention. Follow the link to join for free: https://api.rflect.ch/entrance/external-invitation/NXAscIFB ❗Since there are 25 competencies now it will actually already start on Saturday, November 29th.
💡 Resources That Inspire Inner Growth
I recently revisited a talk by Susan David on emotional agility, and it really struck a chord. Her insights on how we relate to our emotions, not avoiding them, but using them as data, align beautifully with the Inner Development Goals. It reminded me how essential it is to create space for honest reflection, both personally and within our teams. When people feel safe to express what’s real, growth becomes possible, not just professionally, but deeply humanly. I’d love to keep expanding my toolkit, What books, talks, or practices have helped you strengthen your own inner development lately?

Something related to emotions: I loved Dan Newby's book "The Unopened Gift". When I feel about dreaming about a different world I like Rob Hopkins Podcast "From what if to what next" https://www.robhopkins.net/podcast/ And recently I did a transformative embodiment training by Embodiment Unlimited that really helped me to re-connect to my body, rely on it to help me be more resilient and and trust my intuition.
🌱 3. Mindfulness in Motion
I’ve been trying “micro-pauses” between meetings, just a few deep breaths to reset. It sounds simple, but it changes the tone of everything that follows. I’m curious, what are your favorite ways to bring mindfulness into the middle of a busy workday?

I do something similar: micro Body checks during the workday. This really helps me to listen to my body more and take care of myself.
Inviting Feedback for Inner Development EdTech Platform
Hey there, I'm developing an app for post-secondary learners to link their Inner Development Goals (IDGs) with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through projects. There's a demo video below. The goal is two-fold: 1. develop adolescent/youth well-being from the inside out 2. accelerating SDG progress through actionable IDG practices Site for feedback: https://projects.marcushiggs.com/ Check out the demo: https://v0-project-spark-finder.vercel.app/ What features would you recommend for this app? Thanks for your feedback!

This sounds really interesting! I think project-based learning will be the future and many universities will be happy to have a platform that helps them match students. As a student I would probably first be a bit overwhelmed by the many options in my profile (potentially some that I don't know yet). Would be cool if there was a small introduction somewhere for the IDG and maybe a link to the self-assessment so I can know what are more strengths. (but I'm sure you have thought of that) In terms of competence development it could be cool to have endorsements (like in LinkedIn). So if I work with a person on a project I can write them a little endorsement, almost like a sugar cube highlighting their contributions (could be great for hiring and seeing my strengths from an outside perspective) I love the option of students being able to add their own projects. How can you ensure that they follow certain quality criteria? Especially when you use this tool in Higher education and students get credits for it, the lecturers will want to ensure that the scope of the projects is in relation to the credits they receive. Those are the first things that come to my mind. And I have a recommendation for a university - Fontys Hogescholen. Eric Slaats just gave a Keynote at the EFYE Conference last week and presented the university, that has no classes and is only project-based. Interdisciplinary & across semesters. Really inspiring!
