Flu-mageddon is finally over!
Hey friends! I have been a little MIA lately because we got struck with FLU-MAGEDDON, and I needed to prioritize my energy elsewhere. But I'm back and feeling WAY better! 🥳 Quick recap - My daughter got the flu the day before my husband was leaving town for about a week for work. And it was the same weekend I had a half-marathon. That was about 2 weeks ago. Fortunately, I had my mom and MIL here that weekend for help. But then I came down with the flu the day of my half-marathon. I was able to medicate myself well enough to finish the race (which I'm sure was inadvisable, and was very challenging, but I'm glad I finished!). That Monday, both kids seemed fine, so they went to school, and I was able to stay home and fully embrace the sickness - I mostly slept. Then on Tuesday, my son got sent home with a fever, my daughter was still struggling, and my MIL was now testing positive. It was a full-blown flu fest for the rest of the week. Fortunately, my husband got home and was able to avoid getting infected. Even when the flu officially passed, I have been dealing with sinus headaches all week. Until finally today, I am feeling like I'm back to 90%. I know they say the strain of flu going around this year is a tenacious one, and I can certainly attest to that! We are firm believers in vaccines, and I'm so glad we got them because I couldn't imagine it being any worse than it was. Anyway, that is probably the sickest I've been in quite a long time, and the highest fevers my kids have ever had so far. It was a little scary, and I'm so glad it's over! What have you guys been up to the past couple of weeks?! Anything exciting you want to share?!

Oh my gosh this flu is savage. We have it here as well. Its got the whole house and it has knocked me.
@Shauna Hay-Viets my 5 year old had it less than 2 day which was lucky for her and us because her sleep was only affected for a short period. Nothing worse than worrying about sick kids whilst also sick yourself.

Sunday is the end of my week and I start on Monday. That way my weekend is all in one week.
On average… how many days a week do you meditate?
Meditation is a big part of yoga & Buddhism. It is a great way to give our body and mind a little break, but also to “check-in” with ourselves. During meditation is when we strengthen our “mindfulness muscles” so we can respond more intentionally to the chaotic and unexpected things that happen in everyday life. It also gives us space and time to absorb the good that is happening, so we can embrace gratitude and joy 🤩 Yoga can be a “moving meditation” for sure. 🤸 But it was originally used as a way to prepare the body for an extended sitting meditation. 🧘 Then idea was to get the wiggles out, strengthen and lengthen the muscles so you can prepare the body for sitting for a longer period of time. Time to harness your focus and get closer to enlightenment. But, did you know, that even 1 minute of intentional focus counts as meditation? So, how many days a week do you often meditate? (It’s ok if it’s zero! No shame or judgement) And in the comments, let me know what your goal is (even for just 1 minute 😉)

I prefer doing a silence practice over meditation. This could be gardening, walking, or just sitting in silence.

@Shauna Hay-Viets It is so interesting how we each look at meditation. They definitely both can achieve an emotionally calm state and can bring about heightened levels of spiritual awareness. I look at meditation as a practice to enter a chosen conscious state that may involve external stimulus like a guided meditation / music and a silence practice as a more natural subconscious state without external stimulus (outside of pulling plants or running without music etc or just sitting on a chair staring into the void) where you are literally at one with just your own thoughts. This is just how I practice the two separately to achieve to different outcomes.
🧊🔨 what are you up to this weekend?

Community Updates! January 16!
Happy Friday! Here is the latest on what’s going on in this group! (Check out the video below, or here are the highlights👇) Recent Live Workshop Replays: - 2025 Guided Reflection  - 2026 Vision Cast + Year Planning  Starting Next Week: LIVE Yoga here in the community! - I’ve been experimenting with teaching yoga live online via YouTube this past week. So starting next week, I’ll be offering LIVE online yoga via YouTube & in this community.  WHY both? - YouTube is a great place to be introduced to more potential students who might want to join this community, so it gives me a little more exposure to help me grow as an online yoga teacher.  BUT I WANT THIS GROUP TO BE SPECIAL - Sure, someone can follow along on YouTube, either live or as a replay.  - But this group will be where someone can go to join our community and get MORE support.  SO WHAT DOES THAT “MORE SUPPORT” LOOK LIKE? - Well, I’d love to hear what you’d like receive?  But let me back up just a minute… Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been trying to get clear on the vision and purpose of this community. - Sure… I want a place to create a connection with like-minded friends on the path of yoga to prioritize our self-care - And of course… I want a place to go deeper into yoga so we can learn more about moving our bodies, connecting with our minds, and supporting our nervous systems….  But what IS “yoga for self-care”? - That’s a great question! You deserve to know how I define that so you can understand what to expect from me as a yoga teacher (and decide if this is a place you want to be… totally fair).  So Here is how I define YOGA FOR SELF-CARE - Yoga is a holistic practice of movement, breath, and mindfulness to: - nurture your physical, mental, and emotional well-being,  create a dedicated space to reconnect, de-stress, build self-compassion, and  - develop resilience for daily life, going beyond just exercise to restore inner balance and self-awareness.

Honestly you are giving so much value for $5 a month price point. And as you continue growing, the workshop replay vault will also grow as well for those who join at a later date

@Shauna Hay-Viets it definitely would be. I will see how I can rearrange a few things in my weeks so that I can start adding in time for lives.
