Community Updates! January 16!
Happy Friday!
Here is the latest on what’s going on in this group! (Check out the video below, or here are the highlights👇)
Recent Live Workshop Replays:
Starting Next Week: LIVE Yoga here in the community!
  • I’ve been experimenting with teaching yoga live online via YouTube this past week. So starting next week, I’ll be offering LIVE online yoga via YouTube & in this community.
WHY both?
  • YouTube is a great place to be introduced to more potential students who might want to join this community, so it gives me a little more exposure to help me grow as an online yoga teacher.
BUT I WANT THIS GROUP TO BE SPECIAL
  • Sure, someone can follow along on YouTube, either live or as a replay.
  • But this group will be where someone can go to join our community and get MORE support.
SO WHAT DOES THAT “MORE SUPPORT” LOOK LIKE?
  • Well, I’d love to hear what you’d like receive?
But let me back up just a minute…
Over the past couple weeks, I’ve been trying to get clear on the vision and purpose of this community.
  • Sure… I want a place to create a connection with like-minded friends on the path of yoga to prioritize our self-care
  • And of course… I want a place to go deeper into yoga so we can learn more about moving our bodies, connecting with our minds, and supporting our nervous systems….
But what IS “yoga for self-care”?
  • That’s a great question! You deserve to know how I define that so you can understand what to expect from me as a yoga teacher (and decide if this is a place you want to be… totally fair).
So Here is how I define YOGA FOR SELF-CARE
  • Yoga is a holistic practice of movement, breath, and mindfulness to:
  • nurture your physical, mental, and emotional well-being,  create a dedicated space to reconnect, de-stress, build self-compassion, and
  • develop resilience for daily life, going beyond just exercise to restore inner balance and self-awareness.
It’s not a specific type of movement, breath work, or meditation… and honestly, I find that variety is the best spice of life… so it’s not just
  • Slow restorative yoga for calm
  • Power yoga for strength and fitness
  • Chair/desk yoga while you’re working
  • Guided meditations
  • But it does INCLUDE all of those things, and much more!
The PURPOSE OF YOGA FOR SELF-CARE IS…
  • Develop and nurture sustainable and accessible yoga habits to help us find balance between doing and being.
  • Incorporate yoga practices and beliefs into our goals & intentions to promote resilience and maintain dedication to becoming our ideal self.
YOGA HABITS:
  • Meet you where you are
  • Help you stay consistent
  • Support balance in body, time, and energy
YOGA PRACTICES INCLUDE:
  • Movement (gentle, powerful, or anywhere in between)
  • Breathwork (the tool that is always with us)
  • Meditation (discipline)
  • Discussion (community)
YOGA PRACTICE HELPS:
  • Reduce stress & tension (enjoy your life as you live it)
  • Promote your longevity (physically and mentally)
  • Fosters awareness & mindfulness (being a better person)
WHAT IS MY ROLE HERE?
  • I don’t assume to be the expert on every aspect above, but I want to be our guide to teach what I do know, help us find other resources to help learn what I don’t know, and lead by example to embrace the Yoga for Self-Care mission above.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT GOING FORWARD:
  • classes, workshops & gatherings
  • Questions about what you want more or less of
  • Connection with one another
SO That leads back to the beginning….
  • Starting next week, I’ll be offering LIVE classes (10-20 mins long) in a variety of yoga styles and intentions (see schedule in the calendar here - subject to change) - please let me know what you want more or less of!
  • What would be supportive to make it worth it to be in THIS GROUP versus just getting free yoga online on YouTube?
Some thoughts that come to mind are:
  • Posture breakdowns & more instruction of yoga moves,
  • Challenges that help us create better yoga habits throughout our day (quick habits!)
  • Q&As + Coffee Chats to build stronger bonds,
  • Guest Lecturers
  • Resources like printable PDFs
FULL TRANSPARENCY:
  • I’ll be adding a $5/month price to this group soon (you’ll get it for free since you’re already here!)…
  • But what would make this group WORTH paying that $5 a month, that makes it feel like a no-brainer investment in your life without feeling like you’re being assigned homework every month?
Alrighty, that is enough for now, that’s for your time and for being here. I am so excited to see how this group will grow in the next couple month!
