You see, Everyone on Udemy is selling something big (so this takes out the trials and errors on your part). And you don't just get to reach out to mediocre business owners, But you get to outreach to 100s of quality business owners who are willing to pay you thousands of dollars for your services 💸🤑 70% of them have 4.0+ ⭐ ratings (proving my point). Here’s a little example of how I managed to continue a conversation with a prospect after some initial hesitation… Long post but If you guys are gonna write copy, a little reading won't hurt😉 (See photos for reference) To be honest - the guy wasn’t too mean (thankfully) but he did seem a little bit skeptical at first… Will leave these photos here to demonstrate how I shifted the tone of the conversation after a little bit of push back on some IG bait and switch outreach… Firstly, I replied to a story and left a compliment to spark up a dialogue. He responded positively. Then I tried to pull of the switch… 🫠 He instantly saw through my outreach trickery, and realised what I was up too! 💀 (Guess I wasn’t as slick as I thought huh?) Instead of going on the defensive or back pedalling… I tried to make light of the situation! i responded with a bit humility, and humour and admitted that I was in fact interested in discussing some email marketing etc… However (and this part is crucial) I did this, without regressing. (I stand on business😎) I still maintained that I very much was interested in his product, and that my previous messages were still very much genuine… (which is actually true, I mostly reach out to people selling a product I have a genuine interest/knowledge in) He reciprocated the change in tonality, and responded positively - then he sent me a link to a landing page for me to take a look at! (We’re getting this bag🤑) Hopefully taking a look at this situation will inspire some of you guys to keep going even if a client seems initially put off/disinterested! Alright guys, Just wanted to leave these photos here to demonstrate how I used one of Tyson’s outreach methods to book a call today! This is the bait and switch method he teaches in the outreach course, and it’s 100% one of my favourite ways to find clients. I’ll break down this method in case some of you newer guys aren’t familiar with it yet… (It’s a bit of a long read, but absolutely worth it if you guys actually WANT TO FIND CLIENTS EASILY) So here it is… So when you’ve found your prospect on IG, spark up a conversation that has nothing to do with copywriting/offering them work etc - just compliment them for example. (replying to their stories is easier too, feels more casual) Try and start the conversation by inquiring about THEIR product/service. Doing this makes them think that you’re a customer who’s looking to buy whatever it is they’re selling. (Even though you haven’t technically said that!) This is the “Bait”. Because they think you want to buy something, they will respond to you literally 100% of the time because there is money in it for them. They will never, ever, ever ignore you (unless they just don't see the message). Now you should already have a couple of messages back and forth, so they’re much more likely to keep the conversation going. The ball is already rolling… Now there’s the important part - the switch. You need to very casually switch the topic of conversation to something to do with how you can help them/provide for them. (in the pics, this is where I ask him if he uses any email marketing or just IG) The smoother and cleaner you can do this the better. Do it wrong and it’s going to feel jarring for them. You want it to seem like a conversation between acquaintances, NOT a sales pitch. Focus on making this part smooth and seamless. Last step is you want to let them know you *think* you can help them out. (Do not claim you 100% can, and start making outlandish claims without knowing anything about their business first).

I’m a beginner, so I’ll give unbiased harsh advice as if I was buying something. So basically I have virgin eyes towards this kind of thing.

A lot of beginner copywriters put 80% of their energy into sending out 100s of DMs and outreaches, But they often neglect a simple yet important fact. It's because of this fact that I was able to get 6/10 responses from business owners (and getting my first YES). And that's "having a stunning portfolio". Look, The fact that you're a beginner is enough for business owners to say NO, But if you have something to show as evidence that you're capable....they won't mind. Whenever you Dm a prospect, The first thing they'll do is to check your profile and portfolio page. Having one increases your chances of getting a reply. So how do you create a good portfolio? First thing you should understand, Is that you're SELLING yourself (and your services). And like every salesman, the goal is to build enough trust to clear the doubt your prospect may have. Because if you can position yourself as a trustworthy person, You won't have a problem getting replies and getting that first deal. Second thing you should do, Is to go through the 4D swipe file (or any other sources) and look at successful sales pages. Observe how they structure it and how it builds trust with the readers. Now go to any free site that allows landing page feature (e.g. Canva.com, Mailerlite, Carrd.co, ConvertKit, etc.) Copy and paste parts of the page you like and edit it to your taste. The final step is to create lots of good copies.
