How to overcome your “I have no business” moment
Before Logistics I have had a lot of success in my prior sales experience and I have been working as a freight broker from past 5 months and I am not getting any new shippers and i just don't know how long should i do it or am i even a fit for the industry, just losing hopes and unable to cope up. PS : I am just 21

Daniel, you may consider adding local shippers to your game plan. Folks that live and work in your area. If you can, make some cold calls. Tell your story, be authentic, share what you are doing and why you are doing it, etc. If you need it, ask for their help. Best of luck, keep grinding, and learning.
Carrier Broker Authority
Heard one of the Validation platforms tell me they were going to Red Flag all carriers who also have a brokerage out of the same location as their carrier. Why? The FMCSA allows a carrier to apply for brokerage authority. You can have a DOT number and have 2 separate MC numbers one for the brokerage and one for the carrier. So the setup is legal and legit. I happen to have both separate. I’m old school got my authorities before they allowed the combination. I have my brokerage with DOT number and MC And my carrier with its own DOT and MC. But why the idea that if they operate together out of the same location than it’s a high risk double brokerage issue and should be red flagged in their system?

@Sean Ruch @Bill Robinson The example I was close to was a broker who posted negative reviews on DAT, Google, etc., about a carrier. The carrier was able to show that their rev dropped by half after the reviews were posted. In a jury trial, the carrier was awarded that losses suffered during that period. I will ask the broker if they are okay with sharing more details with you all. I was not able to find the case info online.

@Sean Ruch As I understand it, the jury ruled in the carrier's favor for the damages, even though the broker's reasons for posting had happened. They were awarded the lost revenue that was believed to have been caused by the posted negative reviews. It read to me that the result of the broker's action was too steep of a loss for the jury to stomach, so they took the money from the brokerage. I am really sure that the broker would have liked to stay out of a jury trial!

I don't know many agents that are going to work for a firm that says they can only have "X" percentage on a load & no more. Yea on a high paying load 8% can be ok but what about those $500-2k loads which are the most common? So $160 on that high end & $40 on the low. Further more what brokerage can operate on 2% profit? Or does that broker who gets 10% also on a 50/50 or a 60/40 split & has to come off some of that too. Comments, questions, concerns?
Am I missing something here?

You could not afford to float receivables...or you would have to hold carrier payments for customer payments.

Sean, I agree; the agent gets paid when the shipper pays. I was making the point the carrier would also have to wait, which I have found not to be their preference. The fewer trucks they run, the faster they tend to request payment. In my experience, using a couple of hundred thousand (or more) in cash to float brokerages receivables is the expectation, not the rule. If a line of credit is the most common method, and the cost of money is 7 plus % right now, the carrier, the agent, the broker, etc., would all have to wait until the shipper paid to make it work, so no money was floated.
Communication Between Broker and Carrier
I'm curious, and sometimes I feel like I'm spinning my wheels when I take the time to accurately list the details of a load to post. Almost without fail I receive emails that ask the simple one line question: Details please? Or even More details? On a stack of chassis, I can't list much more than what I do. I've found that responding with "What details do you need more clarity on?" fields the question, but does nothing for my frustration. Just another reason to build relationships and stay off the load boards I guess. Will it get better next quarter?

I use a tool for candidates to get quick and clear info, like a survey, that allows them to use their cell phones and move along quickly. It seems like there could be a TMS feature that pushed the carrier's Yes and No questions to include the load info easily and quickly.

I was trying to think up a comparable in the truck space, which I am the most familiar with. I came up with something between the Nov '23 Trucker Voluntary Shutdown (protest) and the May '23 Our Roads, Our Safety DOT inspection blitz. I am offering, as a guess, a smaller cap for 24-48 hours, which has 3-4 days of a ripple effect.
