Most trades businesses don’t have a lead problem, they have a conversion problem.
Phones ring. Estimates go out. Deals die anyway. Why? Because speed, follow-up, and confidence close more jobs than “being the cheapest.” My teams outsell all our competitors and win most jobs simply because: • we followed up faster • we priced with confidence • we ran a tight sales process Not because we were the lowest bid. Quick check 👇 Do you know your close rate on estimates, or are you guessing? Comment YES if you track it. Comment NO if you don’t.

Yes
Most tradesmen are stuck because they confuse being busy with being profitable.
Working 10–12 hour days. Running jobs. Answering calls at night. Yet the bank account never seems to grow. Here’s the truth: If you don’t have dialed sales training, systems, and leadership, more jobs just mean more stress. I didn’t scale a home service company to 9 figures by working harder on the tools. I scaled it by stepping back and building the business like a business. Be honest with yourself 👇 What’s the biggest thing holding your company back right now: • Leads • Labor • Pricing • Systems Drop it in the comments.

Biggest Determiner of Success
The most successful people in the world have three similar traits that have made it possible to outperform 99% of their peers. 1. Grit (passion and perseverance) - guys without this, you're screwed. This industry is not easy. Problems come up, things WILL get hard, you have to push, you have to figure it out. No one is going to save you, the only thing you can lean on sometimes is your own grit. 2. Self Control - if you're not disciplined, you're screwed again. You could be gritty but you need to layer this in to make your perseverance worth something. 3. Growth mindset - I don't care how good you get at something, you can ALWAYS get better. I've learned more as a millionaire than I ever did before only because I'm constantly seeking growth and opportunities to learn. Make sure the goal post is ALWAYS moving. Don't get soft because someone hungrier will come and take what's yours

These are traits that are built into a man. These are not something you can teach. Finding the right people is key.
🔧 Two Books That Changed the Way I Sell (Without “Selling”)
For Anyone in the Trades Who Wants to Become a True Advisor — Not a Pitchman Most people in the trades were never taught how to communicate in a way that lowers resistance, builds trust instantly, and gets customers to open up. We’re taught how to fix things — but not how to guide people through decisions about problems they don’t fully understand. Two books fixed that for me: 📘 1. Socratic Selling — Kevin Daley This book teaches you how to ask questions in a way that gets the customer to discover the truth for themselves — instead of you pushing it on them. It helps you: - Lower emotional resistance - Guide conversations instead of “driving” them - Pull people into agreements instead of pushing - Create clarity for customers who are stressed or confused - Position yourself as the calm problem-finder, not the “sales guy” If you work in a field where people are calling you during stressful situations (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, garage doors, roofing, etc.), this style of communication is a cheat code. 📘 2.The Trusted Advisor — David H. Maister, Charles H. Green & Robert M. Galford This book reframes what it means to be a professional in the service world. It breaks down how trust is built — both logically and emotionally: - Credibility - Reliability - Intimacy - And the one most techs struggle with: lowering self-orientation This book shows you how to stop thinking like a contractor and start operating like a real advisor. When you combine this with a question-based approach (like Socratic Selling), customers view you as the expert — and buying decisions become simple. 🔥 Why I’m Sharing This If you’re in the trades, communication matters more than tools. The right words can: - Calm a panicked homeowner - Increase your close rates without pressure - Reduce objections - Help people want the right solution - Make your day 10× easier
