Weekly Discussion: What’s your #1 author goal for 2026?
New year, fresh momentum. 🎉Let’s set the tone for 2026 together. What’s the one thing you want to accomplish in your author journey this year? It could be big or small: Finish your first draft, publish your book, start (or grow) your email list, get more reviews, sell more books, etc. Drop your goal in the comments — and if you know it, share your next step too (even if it’s a small one). Chances are, someone here has the same goal… and we can all help each other stay on track this year. 🤝📚

Of course, selling my book is my goal. The big challenge is how to convince people that this book is different? Social media platforms bring uninterested audiences who eventually destroy your channels. Relying on chance is the best choice.

Let’s talk about progress (even if it’s messy)
I know writing a nonfiction book can feel amazing one day and like pulling teeth the next. Whether you're drafting, revising, or avoiding your manuscript entirely this week, I’d love to hear where you’re at! What part of the process are you in right now? What’s feeling hard? What’s something that’s going well? Feel free to drop your answers in the comments.

I am now in the phase of marketing my book that I have self-published on Amazon in December. After failed campaigns on Amazon and bookbub, I started making videos on YouTube in Arabic and in English. But I also intend to make some editing to the book content.

@Kate Ol I hope that if I build an audience on YouTube, they will buy my book which is about dreams from a scientific perspective. I am still a beginner, and will see what days bring to me. My videos are in Arabic, and only one is in English:"God with a pointed hat ".
Books promotion & Free speech
I tried to promote my book by writing a post on a Facebook page I was joining. It is about psychoanalysis and Freud's works. My post was pending, then the whole page became invisible to me. Apparently, I was excluded from the group. Why? Because I say that Freud doesn't interpret dreams, I do( in my book). This is an example of the difficulties poor authors face when promoting their books.

@Julie Broad thank you! Regarding what you mentioned yesterday in your video about gaining reviews from academicians, how to contact those shining people? I have tried many times and failed.

@Yna Davis other members promote every day their books or books of others. Anyway, it was weird that the page became invisible. Perhaps it was a technical issue. I will find out. Thank you!
Dream Interpretation
marketing books about establishing ideas seems more difficult than ordinary books.
