Book Positioning Dilemma
Hey guys 👋 Hope you’re all doing well. I’m Ismail, a YouTube content creator in the UK Investing & Personal finance space. I’m looking to write a book that aims to share the deeper foundations about investing to set the reader in the right mindset and expectations for their investing journey. Regarding my business, my revenue doesn't come directly from the viewers who watch my YT videos, but rather from financial services brands that sponsor my videos. One of the biggest struggles I’m facing right now with my book writing journey is positioning. Since I have two very different avatars (The Marketing managers of the financials brands that sponsor me and the mass consumers that watch my videos), I didn't know which to target at first as my ideal reader. I've now come to realise that if I wrote my book with the goal of directly attracting more clients, writing it to the masses and to the average consumers will set me up for failure. And in that case, a book targeting the companies that sponsor me directly about something along the lines of the influencer marketing industry and my experience in this industry seems to make more sense. But I suppose if I wanted the deeper connection and trust with my type of YouTube viewers, gain PR awareness among the UK financial education industry sector, and perhaps attract podcast appearances and public speaking opportunities, then going down the route of a broader book (Kind of like a "The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel" style) would make the most logical sense. Beforew this dilemma was raised to my attention, I've already outlined by book with the second broader book positioning option in mind. But at the moment, I paused my writing until I get clear on the direction I'm heading towards. Unfortunately, the earliest call time I could find with the Book launchers team is until the start of May. So I wanted to share this here and see if anyone here ever faced a similar question or has some experience in book positioning that could be of helpful.

I'm going to agree with Rob here. Positioning for the consumer rather than the brands is going to be better for you long-term even if they are your best clients. If you're consistently posting on YT and getting traffic to your videos, these sponsors will reach out anyways because they want the exposure.
Weekly Coaching w/ Julie & me all through May 👇
For the entire month of May, we’re running a 30-day virtual workshop to help you actually build momentum with your book. Here’s what you’ll get: - Weekly group coaching (with me or Julie Broad) - Direct guidance on what to focus on (so you’re not guessing) - A full platform audit for YOU (Amazon page, social, website, etc.) All you need to do is grab a lifetime license of Author Launch Kit before April 30th. If your book isn’t doing what you hoped yet, this is where that changes. Check out all the details here. We’re excited to work with you on this 🙌 ****Edit: If you already have a lifetime license, yes you can join! Just send me a DM and I'll add you to the list.

@Deborah Lawson-martin I've added you to the list!
41 reviews and counting!
It's this dance of not putting too much "weight" on testimonials/feedback but also continuing to ask for them and have the Amazon algorithm work in your favor... tricky! But my author heart/ego appreciates every good one that comes in TBH.

WD: What part of writing your book has surprised you the most so far?
Open ended question this week. Figured this might drum up some new ideas on ways we can help this community out. :)
Book page is ready and live 💥🎉
Thanks for all the feedback while I was brainstorming my book page flow. It is now live and capturing future readers. The only thing left to be completed is the final book cover (in the works) and where to buy it button. Your comments/suggestions/feedback are welcome. https://www.rogermagalhaes.com/book/nobody-told-me-that/
