Another #1 Best Seller! 🎉
✅ Just hit #1 Best Seller in Strategic Management! 🎉 Hello Orange badge! 🧡 I used one important strategy from @Julie Broad’s book to do it. Something I’ve asked about here before. Any guesses as to which one it was???

I sense an ebook sale! A great way to get tentative buyers into full fledged readers. Did you run promotional ads with book promo groups? Congrats on the bestseller flag!!
Greetings from a new member
Hello everyone! To introduce myself I'm retired after having worked 30+ years for one of the New York Metropolitan area's largest transportation/economic agencies. Over those many years I enjoyed a fruitful career, but always had a longing to pursue a writing career. I even took a stab at participating in a creative writing workshop, but I believe I was not confident enough about my voice at the time and stopped with that pursuit. Having grown up in the Midwest my mother always made it a point to take me somewhere interesting for my summer vacations, be it one of the major cities or an historic site. I believe unknowing to her, that sparked a drive within me of one day wanting to work and live in one of the major cities when I got older. That dream did come to pass in terms of having the opportunity of working at the World Trade Center's North Tower for twenty years. Yes, in case you were wondering, I was in the North Tower on September 11, 2001, when the first plane attacked and that is what my book is about. It is a moment-by-moment detail of my experience on that fateful day from the time I awakened until the time I was eventually able to lay my head to rest. It's been a long journey in writing the book after numerous drafts and I'm still at what I believe is the final one. In the beginning over that period of time I wrestled with a host of things as to why I should not write the book; that is, until I finally felt I had been given a purpose to share my particular story. The most compelling of them was believing God had impressed upon my heart His wanting to use my varied experiences from that day and relate them to spiritual insights and lessons. I'm so grateful I took the opportunity to attend the recent "Self-Publish and Succeed" Summit as it was packed full of juicy nuggets and since have been working to incorporate some into my writing, as well as into my author's brand--something I never had any thought about or consideration prior to this Summit. In terms of what is my biggest marketing obstacle right now [tag@Julie Broad], I would venture to say it is: "assuring that my content stays on par with my overall goal and objective, as well as properly documenting quotations and references."

Welcome, @Pamela Parlor ! That sounds like a quite a story. I think everyone old enough remembers exactly where they were when the Towers fell. It's imprinted on our memory forever. Looking forward to learning more about your book.
New Kid on the block!
Hello everyone, this is my first post and my official introduction to the community. Just submitted my manuscript to Julie and her team last week. I am very pumped with this project. I have been writing newsletters for my companies for over 12 years. As I am celebrating 20 years in business in 2026, I decided to publish a book with 20 newsletters - one for each year. The original name is Stories That Connect but after the team revision, I am not sure if the name will be kept or altered. One part that I am really excited about it is the fact that the person who inspired me to start writing my newsletters will write the foreword of my book

Welcome!
Website URL question
I created an LLC for my publishing company, and I was going to use that for my author website URL. However, I noticed that most authors use their name for their URL, which evidently is usually available. Are there any advantages to using one URL over another?

Hi @David Fealkoff. This questions comes up a lot for authors. Whether to use their author name, their publishing company name, their brand name....it can be a puzzle. I go back to what you'll be recognized by and what is most likely to be searched. It's unlikely people will search for your publishing name if they want info on you as the author. (Readers rarely buy or read books because it came from a certain publisher.) I also like using author names for websites because that makes YOU the brand and opens the door to however your brand evolves. If in the future you'd like to offer courses or consulting or some other kind of services that don't fit under "publishing" but are still part of your brand, it's great to home all of that under the umbrella of your author name.
I Finally Solved a Book Promotion Block
I kept pushing my book everywhere with almost no results, until I stopped, refocused, and figured out who I was actually talking to. Once I dialed in the right audience, everything started moving again. If you’re feeling stuck, sometimes it’s not the effort, it’s the aim. Happy to share more if it helps.
