When a brand strategy goes wrong!!!
Such a big and honestly stupid mistake!!! No marketing should be manipulative. Let me know your thoughts on this (Minna hasn’t got her settings to allow downloads so I can only share the link. Hopefully you can access) @Chloe Bright @Amy Butler - bummer! Essentially, a brand messaged someone an influencer style message, making them feel all chosen and priceless to be invited to an exclusive event, she organised a sitter, paid for city parking, dressed up. They offered her a plus one. Really specially worded. Then she arrived and it was a sample sale that was open to the public. The PR/marketing team intentionally skewing facts with clever words to get people with big followings to promote the event for the brand. https://vt.tiktok.com/ZSy6DRUBy/

Wow the audacity of the brand! How did they think this strategy would hold? If your intent is to leverage someone's influencer brand for visibility, surely you would recognise the potential risks to brand reputation with this approach. I have so many questions about the decision making by the brand here! >>Did they decide on this marketing approach inhouse or did they outsource? >> Did it get sign off from the boss (or is it a small company where the boss wears all the hats?) >> What are their brand values and how does this align to them? >> how did they respond when they were called out about this?
Backwards Business Breakdown BUNNINGS edition
Alrighty! So it’s Saturday arvo! The onions hit first. The sausage sizzle lives outside the store, run by local groups. Why do they stick a food queue at the door of a hardware shop? What's the strategies behind this do you think? (Even if you see or think the right answer has been commented, keep thinking and comment whatever comes to mind! There's no right or wrong answer it's all about seeing what we can find. That's how we train our brains)

Love all these reflections. There is a pain point/captive audience angle at play here too... I mean who hasn't done a last minute bunnings run in the middle of renovating or painting, gardening day where you might have been too busy to stop and eat. It almost acts as a differentiator ... I could swing past hardware x... oh but there is a bunning nearby and I can grab a snag. Maybe it's just me, but I will often will go to a different location that is an extra few mins if it let's me hit two or more too list items. Does anyone know if it costs the fundraiser to hold it there?
Why Gold-Wrapped Pears?
I was recently gifted a beautiful box of carefully packaged Harry and David pears, and I have always wondered why they wrap just 1 single pear out of 9 in gold paper. Is it to just suggest the value of these fruits without the expense of wrapping every single one in gold? And they always put a personal card in there of who wrapped my pears in the box (why should that even matter to me?) I suppose that shows that the operation takes great care and pride in every step of the process. What are your thoughts?

Oh I have heard of this before!! So I don't know if I cheated for the start of the answer to one - but I checked and they explain their why on their website. https://www.harryanddavid.com/articles/behind-the-scenes/pears-good-gold. However, what is interesting is what they have expressed as their intent versus what they have available for purchase in their shop - plus the questions you have posed also suggests some deeper marketing strategy going on. Some options have all pears wrapped (its about $5 more), and they also have fancy gift box with all pears wrapped option (about $25 more). The data on which options sell the best would be so interesting!! In terms of other strategies relating to their why, I think their is some brand identity/exclusivity at play here. They appear to be the only company that do this - so it would be instantly recognisable and also much more Instagramable than a standard fruit basket. The pears themselves are also the variety royal riveria - a variety is unique to the company (exclusive = higher price point!). Pears aren't that asthetic (imo) - so does this gold wrap concept also allow them to attract a higher price point too? I wouldn't pay what equates to about $5 per pear for something from the supermarket, but would I send this to someone as gift - maybe!!

@Tri Martin @Becky F it's a pear like the rest of the box, but wrapped in gold. But I think this kind of curiosity would also be felt by someone receiving the gift box. If i hadnt heard of this before and i got it as a gift... my brain would explode with questions like why is this one gold wrapped? Is it different? Should I open it first? Quick take a photo and show.... It definitely makes a memorable impression and is a conversation starter. So clever marketing indeed!
Why are wellness industry event promos intentionally vague on time and date?
I have noticed this trend lately on Instagram and Facebook and it irks me. I understand that coaches and teachers want to build up their contact list by making prospects dm them for more info on workshops, but as a consumer if I can't glance at it quickly and determine if I can attend it I will just swipe right past their story or scroll past their post. Don't make me take extra time and effort for something you want me to attend and pay for! What do you think?

For me it would depend on how hard it is to get the info... if I can drop a keyword and get an instant dm with info I am ok with initial vagueness. If I had to wait hours or days for the info, my brain would move on. Probably doesn't help that my algorithm often shows me Canadian and US wellness creators who are in a different timezone!

You missed the masterclass, but honestly, Amy? Missing it might be exactly what you needed. Because now you have a choice: Option 1: Watch the replay. Feel inspired. Take notes. Tell yourself you’ll start “soon.” (Most people stop here.) Option 2: Skip the replay. Invest $39 in The Podcast Lab. And by this time next week, you could be recording your first episode. The Podcast Lab is open right now. Here’s the truth: you don’t need another hour of me talking about podcasting. You need one focused system that walks you through it. One feels productive. One is productive. The Podcast Lab hands you the 5-step system to launch in 30 days. Plan it, produce it, publish it, promote and profit from it. It’s the gap between thinking about podcasting and actually having a podcast. Get started for $39 Yes, you can still watch the replay here if you want to. You’ll learn the 3 steps to start and profit from a podcast, why you don’t need thousands of followers, and how to use podcasting to grow your business. But ask yourself: is watching another video moving you forward, or is it just delaying the decision? The people who attended live? They're already inside The Podcast Lab mapping out their shows. They didn't need more information. They needed implementation. Real talk: the $39 you’ll spend on The Podcast Lab costs less than the hourly value of your time spent watching, note-taking, and then still not starting. Sometimes the shortest path between you and your dream is simply buying the map. One hour watching or 30 days doing. It's your choice. The replay will always be there. This offer won't. Join The Podcast Lab instead. Jenna P.S. The people who attended live are already mapping out their podcasts inside The Lab. You didn’t miss your chance; you still have one. Take it. There were a bunch of join links that didn't copy across but hopefully you get the gist. Onto the strategy reflection... I think a lot about time vs money trade offs atm. This strategy did make me stop and think instead of clicking the replay link. What do our thinkers crew make of this? Would you watch the replay... or opt in instead? Would a higher price point change your decision?
