From Zero to Full-time Copywriting in 2 Months
(From copywriter Mike Humphreys) You can pay for training by spending your time, your money, or both. More than half of the great copywriters I know developed their chops like I did: By reading the classic copywriting/direct response marketing books, studying great copy, and writing copy. I've never belonged to a paid mastermind for copywriting or marketing. I've never hired someone to privately mentor me. Or been someone's copy cub. I didn't pay for my first high-ticket copywriting training program until after I'd already produced over $10M in sales for my clients. At that point, I was charging $5K+ for a salesletter. So I was making good enough money to pay for that specialized training without going into debt. I broke into copywriting in 2006. Took me 2 months to go full-time with it. I've been full-time ever since. Money was tight then and my oldest child was in diapers. So I invested time instead of money in my copywriting career. Early on, I developed the habit of reading great copy or writing it 6 days a week. I've stuck to that routine ever since. And I'll continue to do it until they nail my coffin shut someday. Simple in theory... difficult in execution because it requires daily persistence and commitment to actually doing it. It also requires patience too because success won't arrive instantly or overnight. But it is doable, even if you're dealing with a shoe-string budget. If I can do it, then I believe anyone else can do it too. Especially with all of the amazing free resources out there. Most of which didn't exist when I was breaking into copywriting. Gary Halbert's website. Justin Goff's free email course. All of the major mailers and huge 8-9 figure companies that put out great copy every day. Not only do they send you great emails for free... those emails take you to their well-written VSLs, webinars, and salesletters too. That's off the top of my head. There are lots of other great free resources out that I'm neglecting to mention.

How do you know you aren't a billionaire?
Are you absolutely certain that you are NOT a billionaire? By that I mean, if you aren't one already, are you certain you'll never become one? How could you be certain of something like that? Do you know your own destiny? Let me ask you this. If you knew you're destined to be a billionaire, would you think and act differently? If you knew, without a shadow of a doubt, you will eventually possess one billion dollars, how would that change your behaviour? In Think Big and Kick Ass, Donald Trump asks readers to answer a short quiz where he demonstrates the thesis of the book. Here's the first question in that quiz. 1. How much money do you want to have in five years? - $100,000 to $249,999. - $250,000 to $499,999. - $500,000 to $4,999,999. - $5 million or more. (* lay it on me) It's been a while since I've read the book, but after the quiz he writes something to the effect of… It takes the same amount of effort to think big as to think small. There's this scene in The Expanse where the main bad guy in seasons 5 & 6 of the show, says to one of the good guys who he's about to execute… “This has always been a problem for our kind. Even our dreams are small.” Andrew Tate does this bit where he says “depression isn't real.” He does it to make a philosophical point, which I'll paraphrase: ”Even if I'm wrong about depression not being real, why would I adopt a belief that makes me weaker?” When I announced my workshop with Zhihao Huang, I mentioned he made ten million dollars last year (revenue.) A few people commented in disbelief. “Stop the cap.” “If you believe any of this, I’ve got bad news for you.” “$10million??! , sometime I think you guys on X are just throwing around this crazy numbers, just to get replies... Cos yeah I know people can bring in a good income with copywriting but the $10million man be for real.” In my replies I tried to convey the same message I'm sharing with you today. “Why would you believe something like this is not possible and thereby reduce your own agency?”

$10million revenue is quite credible. Though who were you providing service to? Does any billionaire have 'self-made' billion in the bank?

Pic 1: Took a stingy print out of 2 per side, 4 pages in 1 sheet Pupils had to perpetually zoomed in Pic 2: also got stain on it A little housekeeping, don't bring the kitchen to the study Presentation also matters Pic 3: New Print out. Visibility optimal [ Sneak peek (pique intrigue) into the pic ] Method: Read a statement aloud. Write by self dictation. Read aloud. Repeat. The reading is a pause and rest for the wrist. (It will matter ahead) ! Do not jot down. Let short term memory accrue a long string of words. A dual exercise for working memory and pattern recognition And the arm muscles also work out to produce readable hand-lettering. (Unlike our fellow professional from the medical fields) A throuple of benefits! Pics 4 & 5: Hour long session. 11 minutes for 1st page Huh, that's all? I got this! 13 minutes for 2nd pg. Weariness kicks in. Wrists shall ache soon Recess : 5-7 minutes. A walk (a piss) and some wrist rotations 15 minutes for 3rd pg. Attention slipping Keen on the decor. Fanciness costs seconds. 14 minutes for 4th pg. With a sigh of relief, a tad of triumph, I wrap up. Sayonaara, Adios... ...3 sheets in! (Pic 3 peek) 👏🎬 Pondering though whether it is necessary to maintain the exact layout of the web page on paper?
