The Charity season begins
Well today saw @Devon Hay and myself start the charity season with Moray Mental health, playing against the University of Highlands and Islands (UHI) Devon had the first half and I was the second half. A good warm up saw us both ready for the game. Devon will put his own take on his half I am sure of it although there will be 1 particular dive put in from the video footage for all to Marvel at!!! So Half time 2-0 down and the swap came. For those who follow my progress you know this week has been a tough one mentally worried my playing days were ended 3 weeks from my 46th birthday as I had lost my power for diving. But out I went for the second half with UHI certainly stretching the play with you get bodies and pace meant so busy times ahead. Mindset and prep was all good and the first action for myself was a fairly easy centre of the chest collect great grip from the new J4K Vipers always great to get that first ball secured, good distribution and building into the game, then Came the first diving save and safely secured down to my left. Confirming immediately to myself that I can still dive. The half went on the. A string of Corbera against us saw a solid punch followed by the cardinal sin. I was claiming the ball easily and took my eye off the ball looking for the fast distribution I had my hands too wide, the ball went in and straight through to the waiting attacker behind me for 3-0 🤦🏻 A quick reset hand held up and I went on to control my area, a few more full dives to near and far post and o e big claim that left the Centre forward sat feeling his chest from jumping with me (A claim that shows raising your knee for protection will always leave the striker wishing he hadn’t challenged. (video will follow on that one as loved that feeling) Full time and sadly a loss but 3-0 and with positives for myself, Devon and the rest of the Squad to take forward I to the bigger matches to come

Was a great competitive game, just took us a while to get into it and unfortunately we switched off at the worst moments. Great to get the first minutes under the belt and hopefully a good foundation to push on from
First Charity Squad of the Year
So our first Moray Mental Health FC Squad of the year has been announced with both Goalkeepers being members of this community and J4K users ( @Devon Hay & Myself) Moray Mental health like so many charity sides around the UK are about the message we bring to each match day. For ourselves it is about the struggles men have with Mental health and ensuring people know that it is #oknottobeok Mental health is not always Depression, it can be self doubt, the feeling of being worthless, and so many other things in our minds that eat away at us. As Goal Keepers we work with our mindset on such a different level but we can use our own base to notice changes in our team mates, Friends and Family in our day to day. For ourselves younger members of the community you may notice this mostly around Exam times but not exclusively. For us adults it is not an exclusive in Men, it can effect anyone in society, but we need to support each other and ensure when we note an obvious change in folks they know they can talk because it is ok not to be ok. I hope to keep you all updated on our cause and maybe even meet some of you in the community if we come to play a side you know of that has similar values and may wish to play our side in a charity environment. Below is our 1st squad of the season for the Game Vs UHI (University of Highlands & Islands) on 1st Feb

Mental Health challenges
Morning all. First of all this is not a pity post or the likes. Most of you are aware I was very active as a forum member and moving into coaching but for the past 2 months I have been struggling with mental health problems since leaving my club following the toxic nature setting into it at the time in my own view of things. Anyway I am still a wee while away from returning to the sport and may actually hold out u til the new year having now admitted the mental Health struggles I am overcoming to get me back to a mindset where I can coach and possibly return to playing. For the youth in the forum we talk a lot about positive mindset. It is something I strive to have but when outside pressures make it hard to maintain that you sometimes have to take a step back to progress forward. So stay strong but don’t be afraid to admit the weakness to step back reset so you can come back stronger. Be the Change Cheers all Phil
