What was your proudest GK moment?
What was your proudest moment as a GK/ GK parent or coach? Mine is definitely seeing Freddie doing his first double save during a friendlies match against Leek. The pride he had on his face, his coach jumping with excitement, the parents cheering, and the way his team cheered for him was just so amazing!

I'd have to say it's a continuous feeling of being proud as a GK parent with my 8yo daughter. She's still breaking down little barriers all the time and getting really great comments from opposition coaches/ parents etc. Definitely saving the team from losses. I think the latest moment that stood out was last Saturday in a cup qtr final game where she pulled off one of the best saves I've seen her do yet, it just looked so relaxed and natural saving one flying across the goal towards the corner, and the smile on her face when she'd saved other shots and got to do the "big kick". She was going for goal πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

@Freddie Beech Thanks. I think parents (both teams) and the teams coaches giving praise and cheering is so important for confidence building in young keepers. I know it gives my little one a boost so that's great that Freddie had all that going on!

Penalty practice
Interested to see opinions on this one, for our team personally penalties is not something we practice very often, I feel it can be very damaging to a goalkeepers confidence, even just in training. We have a very good save rate on penalties with hardly ever practicing them. Do you agree that they can damage keepers confidence or do you love the challenge

@Nathan Hallwood Absolutely brutal level of power on some of them πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. It was bad enough last Saturday when she banged her mouth on the astro making a save that flipped behind her so all she could do was sprawl out trying to reach. We definitely don't need random power shots hitting her in the face for no good reason, those are saved for the games πŸ˜‚

@Nathan Hallwood yeah a few tears and she came running over to me. Luckily no damage done and she went back out about 30 seconds later to an applause from both teams parents and coaches which was really nice for her. A saves a save right, even if it's the face πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
