Am I holding Fred back? One of Freds coaches is VERY keen to get Fred signed (anywhere) he is always getting scouts out to watch the team and always makes a point of pointing out Fred, which to me is abit cringe surely Freds skills should get attention alone? Fred is a good keeper (I may be biased) but he has the vocals, the 1on1's, no fear and understands angles/ rebounds. I dont know if thats expected at the age of 6 for a keeper or not. But this coach is adamant Fred will go far and feels we need to push for it now and "get him in anywhere we can" Im not overly for getting him signed.. yet. The lad is 6, to me (I know the absolute minimum about how all this works) playing football at 6 should be about enjoying it with your mates and building the love and deeper understanding for the game not being scouted. I dont want Fred to feel the harsh commitments of being signed at this young age. Am I not seeing the bigger picture? Or would it be best to hold off for a while until he is older and fully understands and can commit? Has anyone else been in this situation?

@Preston Oldfield whatever fred chose we would support him, and Fred is very headstrong and knows what he wants 🤣 at the moment he is the happiest playing with his mates, and I dont think that will ever change. I think they will play grassroots well in to theor 20s and be in the pub after. He is a talented 6 year old, and I have no idea what age keepers get picked up on, the owner of the club has voiced it would be great for the club if Fred stayed at grassroots because "he is something that boy" i just dont want scouts to have a negative opinion of him should the opportunity arise in the future because of this 1 coach.

Fred will only have the personalised ones now 🤣 hes on his second pair and adores them. They take no longer than the standard order in my opinion, and the quality is brilliant.

Another day another tournament
Playing a year up again! Making it to the semi finals 💪🏻 Freds technique is really coming along, and his focus is really showing now. Not bad for a 6 year old 🏆
