Yesterday we lost our biggest client to AI.
He called me and said he had connected his Google Ads account to Claude. It generated a full “audit” with pages of insights, recommendations, and things that were supposedly wrong.
On the surface, it looked impressive. Very detailed. Very confident.
But reading through it, most of it was basic, generic advice. The kind of things that don’t actually move performance. Still, it planted doubt. And that was enough.
He lost trust that we were doing everything possible, and decided to leave. Not because the AI was right, but because it felt right to him.
That’s the real shift happening right now. AI doesn’t have to be better to replace you. It just has to be convincing enough to change perception.
For me, this was a clear signal. Staying a traditional Google Ads manager is no longer viable.
It’s now about becoming AI native, integrating it, controlling the narrative, and going deeper than what any generic tool can output.
Any thoughts on this are welcome! 🙏🏼
