Elon Musk’s AI start-up, xAI, has acquired a start-up
Elon Musk’s AI start-up, xAI, has acquired a start-up, called Hotshot, that specializes in AI-powered video generation tools. 🔓 Key Points: - Hotshot has three text-to-video models—which have been trained on 600M video clips—that allow users to create 10-second videos from text prompts, in different styles like comic book animations and rotoscope effects. - Founder Askash Sastry said that training these models had given him “a look into how global education, entertainment, communication, and productivity are about to change” and was “excited to continue scaling as a part of xAI.” - Musk’s acquisition of Hotshot suggests that he wants to increase his AI capabilities and develop an AI video generator that can compete with (among others) the likes of OpenAI’s Sora and Google's Veo 2. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise as in January, during a live stream, Musk hinted that he would be releasing an AI video-generator ‘Grok Video’ to integrate into his chatbot Grok chatbot platform “in a few months”
