Multi-angle cutouts

Could someone please explain or attach a link on how to do the cutouts on the top of this glue gun or the sides of this USB wireless adapter? It's driving me crazy because I've tried so many different ways. The closest I've come so far is with untrim and doing some cutouts from the outer and inner shell and connecting with loft and patch but it still doesn't look right for some reason.
